Wednesday's CIC meeting will not take place

The April Ada CIC meeting is cancelled, according to Ada village officials. The meeting was set for Wednesday, April 20.

The original purpose of the meeting was to take action regarding a Port Authority financing program. That action is now not required.

The next Community Improvement Corp. meeting is at noon, Wednesday, May 18.

University ranked ninth in ‘Best Value Colleges in the State of Ohio’ by SmartAsset

Ohio Northern University has been ranked in the top 10 of the “Best Value Colleges in the State of Ohio” in a 2016 study conducted by SmartAsset, a financial date and technology company.

According to the second annual study, ONU placed ninth among all schools in Ohio, finishing with a “College Education Value Index” of 44.56.

According to SmartAsset, the study looked at five factors to determine the best value colleges and universities: tuition, student living costs, scholarship and grant offerings, retention rate, and starting salary.

Joseph R. Frattarola 1935-2016

Joseph R. Frattarola, 80, died on Monday, April 11, 2016, at Lima Memorial Hospital following a lengthy battle with pulmonary adenocarcinoma.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 58 years, Virginia (Risman) Frattarola; his son, Gary J. Frattarola and his wife Hyun; his daughter, Aniela Meinhaldt and her husband Kevin; grandchildren Anthony, Victoria, and Noelle; his sister Rose Rocco and her family. He was preceded in death by his brother, Carl Smigowski.

Born on Dec. 2, 1935, to the late Giuseppe Frattarola and Josephine (Smigowski) Frattarola, he spent his early years in Port Chester, N.Y. and Norwalk, Conn.

Betty Fisher was retired from Ada schools

Betty R. Fisher, 81, died on Tuesday, April 19, 2016, at 2:38 a.m. at Lima Memorial Health System, Lima.

She was born on April 18, 1935, in Hardin County to Eldon and Ruth (Rainsburg) Decker who preceded her in death. On Oct. 10, 1953, she married Warren J. Fisher and he died on Jan. 24, 1992.

Betty retired from Ada Schools where she worked in the school cafeteria. She was a longtime 4-H Advisor and she was a former member of the Liberty Grange. Betty loved to quilt. She loved her family and she loved being a farm wife. She was a member of the Sugar Grove United Methodist Church of Ada.
