Lunch is now served

Meet Calvin and Elmer in a golf cart. Calvin Fisher is the guy on the right. He heads up a free lunch and outdoor fun program, sponsored by ReStore, at the Ada War Memorial Park from noon to 1 p.m. every weekday all summer. Elmer sits in the golf cart to encourage kids not to drive or ride in the vehicle due to safety concerns. Also helping advertise the program are (standing, left) Caleb Chafin and (standing, right) Landon Dunifon. The lunch and games are for kids of all ages.

From the women's restroom at the old town hall, to its current location on Main Street, the Library has had many faces.

Celebrate with the library today and for the rest of the year, and stay tuned for its 100th anniversary events in 2017. For more on the Ada Public Library's history.

And don't forget to sign-up for the Ada Library's Summer Reading 2016 program. It runs Saturday, June 4 to Saturday, July 16, beginning this weekend at the kick-off from 10a.m. to 2p.m. at the library.

One-half million pounds of mulch - and there's still time to order

One -half million pounds of mulch...that's what the Ada Lions Club sells each spring to support local scholarships, which amounted to 6,100 this year.

Chad Hays loads two scoops of mulch into a pickup for delivery. Next Saturday, June 4, is the Mulching Guys last day this season.

To order, call 419-634-5626. Cost is $30 for brown per scoop, $35 for black, $10 local delivery.

Want to haul your own? The site is located at Bass Trucking on SR 81, just west of town. They'll be open Saturday from 8 a.m. until about 1 p.m.

Recreational Music Making offered for adults this summer in Ada

Vicki Mills of Miss Vicki's Music Studio, Ada, is now registering adults in a summer recreational music making class titled Recreational Music Making.

The seven-week course runs from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m., Thursdays, from June 9 to Aug. 4 (no class July 7).

"This program is for anyone who ever wanted to make music, whether with their voices or with a particular instrument," Vicki Mills, of Miss Vicki's Music Studio.

"It is a way to learn music, express your creativity, share a love of music with others, and develop a skill that can provide enjoyment in class and throughout life," she said.

Jane Hoffman was active in Ada First United Methodist Church

Jane Hoffman, 89, died on Friday, May 27, 2016 at 3:30 p.m. at the Mennonite Memorial Home, Bluffton.

She was born on Nov. 11, 1926 in Lima, Ohio, to Francis and Lucille (Razor) Blosser who preceded her in death. On Oct. 11, 1947, she married Dallas Eugene Hoffman and he died on Nov. 24, 2010.
