Ada VFW fish fry Friday night

Ada VFW will hold a fish fry from 5 to 7 p.m., Friday, June 24, in the hall side.

Tickets are $8 for adults and $4 for youth under 10. The fry is for eat-in or carry-out. The meal includes french fries, roll, coleslaw and a dessert in addtion to fish.

 

 

Ada's next blood drive is July 18

Ada's next Red Cross blood drive is Monday, July 18. The blood drive takes places from 11:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. at Community Health Professionals, 1200 S. Main St., Ada

Ready, Set, Grow Preschool registering students for fall

Ready, Set, Grow Preschool is now registering students for 2016-17.

The preschool is located at First United Methodist Church, Ada, 301 N. Main St.

Classes involve a 36-week preschool program beginning in mid-August weekday mornings from 9 to 11:30 a.m. Parents or caregivers may choose two, three, four or five days per week.

Bill Lawrence worked for the Village of Ada for 30 years

William H. “Bill” Lawrence, 72, died on Wednesday, June 22, 2016, at 5:22 a.m. at Lima Memorial Health System, Lima.

Bill was born on July 10, 1943 in Alger, Ohio, to William L. and Rose C. (Campbell) Lawrence. His father preceded him in death and his mother survives in Kenton. On Sept. 15, 1964, he married Linda L. Fleming and she survives in Ada.

Blessing of the Bikes June 26 at Sugar Grove UMC

Sugar Grove United Methodist Church will hold a Blessing of the Bikes following the 9:30 a.m. service on Sunday June 26, at the church on State Route 81 east of Ada.  

The community is invited to ride motorcycles, scooters, mopeds and bicycles to church for the blessing.  A potluck picnic will follow in the church basement.  All are welcome.

Jumbo Junior Farmers 4-H Club hears about 4-wheeler safety

Jumbo Junior Farmers 4-H Club met on June 13, 2016 for their fifth meeting of the year.  The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Alexa Lowry followed by the 4-H Pledge led by Chance Taylor.  Roll call was answered with favorite summer activity by 13 members with 3 advisors and 2 parents/guests present.

Kevin Smith, Safety Officer gave a report on how to be safe on a 4-Wheeler.  He said to wear a helmet, wear pants to protect from thorns and bugs, and drive safely.
