The three-day annual Lincoln Highway Buy-Way across America yard sale began in Ada on Thursday morning amid sunny skies.

A tent along Main Street in the Railroad Park will be manned during the sale by the Ada chamber and C.I.C. members, the local sponsoring organizations.

In addition to handing out the maps, people visiting the tent can also find Ada sesquicentennial books and yardsticks.

Try-outs for fast pitch travel team Aug. 14

The Northwest Ohio Lunachix 18U fast pitch travel softball team will hold tryouts soon.

Tryouts are at 4 p.m., Sunday, Aug. 14, in the Bluffton village park on the County Line Road.

Ada school announces free and reduced-price meal program

Ada Exempted Village Schools announced its 2016-2017 program year policy for free and reduced-price meals or free milk for students unable to pay the full price of meals or milk served under the National School Lunch and School Breakfast, After School Care Snack or Special Milk Program.  Each school office and the central office has a copy of the policy, which may be reviewed by any interested party.

Aug. 22 pesticide collection in Kenton

The Ohio Department of Agriculture will be sponsoring a collection for farmers wishing to dispose of unwanted pesticides on Monday,  Aug. 22, from 9 a.m. to  p.m. at the Hardin County Fairgrounds, 14134 County Road 140, Kenton.

The pesticide collection and disposal service is free of charge, but only farm chemicals will be accepted.  Paint, antifreeze, solvents, and household or non-farm pesticides will not be accepted.

Sandra Webb 1953 - 2016

Sandra J. Webb, 62, died on Thursday, Aug. 11, 2016 at 8:09 a.m. at Lima Memorial Health System.

She was born on Aug. 29, 1953, in Lima, Ohio to Richard Lester and Goldie (Moore) Moore who preceded her in death. On June 20, 1970, she married Kenneth E. Webb and he survives in Lima.

Sandra was a homemaker and she previously worked at Rudolph Foods Co. in Westminster.
