Bingo in Ada every Thursday in June

Ada Bingo plays on Thursdays at the Alumni N-men’s Building in downtown Ada.
Doors open at 5:30 p.m.; Bingo begins at 6:55 p.m..

Ada Bingo uses new, radio-controlled electronic machines as well as traditional paper packages.

Proceeds from Ada Bingo benefits the Ada Lion's Club and Ada Music
Boosters.

Next Red Cross blood drive June 13

American Red Cross has schedule the next Ada blood drive for Thursday, June 13 from 12 p.m. until 6 p.m.  

The drive will be held at Ohio Northern University, McIntosh Center, 525 S. Main St.

While walk-in donors are welcome, donors are encouraged to make appointments. To make an appointment, call 1-800-RED CROSS or go online at www.redcrossblood.org.

 

Ada Public Library book discussion "The Book Thief" on June 4

The Ada Public Library invites Icon viewers to join its discussion of  Markus Zusak's "The Book Thief." The discussion takes place at 7 p.m., Tuesday, June 4, in the library.

Here's a brief outline of the plot:

 

"It’s just a small story really, about among other things: a girl, some words, an accordionist, some fanatical Germans, a Jewish fist-fighter, and quite a lot of thievery. . . .

Set during World War II in Germany, Markus Zusak’s groundbreaking new novel is the story of Liesel Meminger, a foster girl living outside of Munich.

The Hardin County Chamber & Business Alliance is partnering with 29 local businesses and sponsors to kick off a Buy Local First Hardin County Spring Scavenger Hunt.

The Scavenger Hunt run now through June 3. The Buy Local First Hardin County campaign is a way to educate the community on the benefits of Buying Local. This scavenger hunt is your opportunity to check out and support not only the businesses participating in the hunt, but also all the local businesses in Hardin County.
