Ada volleyball loss vs. Black Knights

ADA – The Ada High School volleyball team lost in straight sets to visiting Blanchard Valley Conference power Van Buren Wednesday, September 25, on “Dig for a Cure Night.”

A total of $1,843.50 was raised for the “Not by Choice” Outreach in Kenton, which benefits those afflicted with all forms of cancers. Ada wore pink jerseys to commemorate the annual event.

The Bulldogs fell to 6-8 overall and 2-5 in the BVC after the 25-13, 25-18, 25-20 defeat. 

Van Buren improved to 10-4 overall and 3-3 in BVC play after the sweep.

On Wednesday, September 25, Lt. Governor Husted presented Apollo Career Center with $1.1M in Career Technical Education funds through a grant collaboratively written with Ada Exempted Village Schools and Allen East Schools.

Ridgemont Local Schools student faces charges of inducing panic

The Hardin County Sheriff's Office released the following announcement on the afternoon of September 25:

The Hardin County Sheriff's Office and Ridgemont Local School District [Mt. Victory] learned of a threat made by a current student on September 25, 2024.

The School Resource Officer and school officials immediately removed the student from class. As a result of the investigation, one juvenile was taken into custody and faces charges of inducing panic. The juvenile was transported to the Wood County Juvenile Detention Center where he will remain until he can be arraigned in the Hardin County Juvenile Court.

William "Billy" Brown

On or about the 8th day of November 2020, Allen County Sheriff's Office was dispatched to the 700 block of North Phillips Road in Jackson Township, Harrod, Ohio. When Deputies arrived, they located William Brown deceased near the roadway. Mr. Brown was transported to Lucas County Coroner's Office for an autopsy to establish his cause and manner of death.

Allen County Sheriff's Office Detectives and supporting agencies are investigating this case as a Suspicious Death.

The September 18 meeting of the Ada Area Chamber of Commerce featured a presentation from Ohio House candidate Sheila Coressel (Democrat), as well as announcements from the chamber and members in attendance.
