Christopher Beaschler named Pioneer Football League co-scholar athlete of the year

Ada HS grad Christopher Beaschler, University of Dayton senior linebacker, and Butler senior quarterback Matt Shiltz were named the Pioneer Football League Co-Scholar Athletes of the Year, Wednesday.

The two also were among 52 PFL student-athletes selected to the 23rd annual Academic All-PFL Teams, as selected by the league’s sports information directors.

It is the second year the PFL has recognized its top student-athletes, both on the field and in the classroom, with the Scholar-Athlete of the Year award. It also is the second year there were two honorees due to a tie in the voting.

January workshop focus on improving business visibility online

Paula Scott of Bluffton will offer two workshops in January titled “Improving Business Visibility Online,” hosted by Bluffton Center for Entrepreneurs.

She will provide a brief overview of the workshops during Friday’s Dec. 11, Bluffton chamber breakfast in the town hall at 7 a.m.

“What happens when a visitor looks for your Bluffton business with a search engine or app?” asks Scott. “Don’t know. Or, don’t like what you find?”

Joint funeral service for James and Donna Klingler

NOTE: James Klingler died on Dec. 8. His wife, Donna, died on Dec. 7. Click here for her obituary. Joint visitation is Wednesday, Dec. 9, from 6 to 8 p.m.

James Howe Klingler, 86, died Dec. 8, 2015, at his residence. James was born May 18, 1929, in Hancock County, Ohio to the late John Henry and Marie (Pratt) Klingler.  On March 11, 1951, he married Donna June Gossard who preceded him in death Dec. 7, 2015.
