Melody Veltri wasn’t sure what kind of response she’d get when she approached Ada High School students about competing in an Ethics Bowl. Veltri, an English instructor at the school, assumed some interest among high achieving students.
“The students on the Ethics Bowl teams are academically strong, but I didn’t make that a requirement,” said Veltri.
With 10 students expressing an interest, she has formed two teams of five who meet weekly to read cases.

For the third holiday season, Icon will sponsor two free showings of the 1946 classic featuring the all-star cast of James Stewart, Donna Reed and Lionel Barrymore on Friday, Nov. 29, at the Shannon Theatre, Bluffton.
The free showings are at 10 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. and are kickoffs to this year’s Blaze of Lights event.
Henry Eugene “Little Gene/Frog” Sexton, Jr., age 52, passed away on Friday, Nov. 8, in Lakeview, Ohio.
He was born on Nov. 23, 1966 in Lima, Ohio to Henry Eugene “Gene” Sexton, Sr. and Susan Furr Davenport. His father survives in Harrod. His mother and step-father, Dennis Davenport, preceded him in death.
Little Gene was a self-employed carpet and flooring layer. He was a member of the Moose Lodge #1533 of Indian Lake. He loved to ride Harley-Davidson motorcycles and was a member of the Motorcycle Association.
Dr. North does a wonderful job taking students to the Dominican. It's a great opportunity for the students and it is a blessing for the residents of the Dominican Republic.
The Ada fall sports awards program scheduled for tonight (Nov. 12) has been postponed to a date to be announced. Also, all junior high practices for tonight are canceled.
