ODOT seeking public comment on proposed projects

LIMA, Ohio—The Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) District 1, in compliance with the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) and Executive Order 11988, is seeking public comments regarding the following proposed project:

HARDIN COUNTY

State Route 81 bridge replacement (PID: 105086) – ODOT is proposing to replace the bridge that carries State Route 81 over Hog Creek approximately three miles east of the village of Ada. The bridge is situated between County Road 75 and Township Road 85.

Expanded council chamber seating approved, long waits for new vehicles

At the Village of Ada Regular Council Meeting of November 15 (attended by the Icon via Zoom) Mayor Dave Retterer conducted the meeting beginning with the Pledge of Allegiance and Roll Call. All council members were present.

In the following action, all legislation was approved. The agenda and supporting documents are attached (Agenda, pages 1-2).

Francis “Carl” Fraley was a farmer

Francis “Carl” Fraley, age 80, of Kenton, passed away on Monday, November 14, 2022, at the Mennonite Memorial Home, Bluffton, surrounded by his family.

He was born on June 8, 1942, in Alger, Ohio to the late Daniel and June (Watson) Fraley.  On July 28, 1978, Carl married Patricia A. “Patty” Collins. She preceded him in death on June 22, 2013.

Council agenda for November 15, 2022

The Village of Ada has provided the attached packet of supporting materials includig an agenda for the Regular Council meeting of November 15, 2022.

The meeting may be attended in person at the Ada Municipal Building, 115 W. Buckeye, or via Zoom HERE.

The agenda includes the following legislation:

RESOLUTIONS
- A resolution authorizing the Mayor to enter into an agreement with Michael Harnishfeger for supplemental employment as Zoning Inspector.

- A resolution establishng a conveneince fee for payment of village fees and expenses.

Patsy Marie Fancher was a homemaker and farmer

Patsy Marie Fancher, age 86, of Ada, passed away on Sunday, November 13, 2022, at 11:34 p.m. at her residence.

She was born on November 5, 1936, in Hardin County, Ohio to the late Eldon and Ruth (Rainsburg) Decker.  On January 21, 1956, Patsy married Jackie E. “Jack” Fancher, who preceded her in death on January 4, 2017.

Patsy is survived by her two daughters: Kathleen (John) DeRosa of Leesburg, FL, and Wilma (Bill) Harris of Ada; five grandchildren: Casandra (Joe) Bennett, Candice Vang, Bryan Kent, Shannon Simon, and Jeremy Park; and nine great grandchildren; a stepbrother, Greg (Ellie) Long of Newnan, GA; and two stepsisters: Jackie Ackerman of Harrod, and Jan (Glen) Williams of Lima.    

Ada Chamber meets on November 16

Reminder for Ada Area Chamber of Commerce members: 

Join us Wednesday the 16th at 8:00 a.m. for our November Membership Meeting! The new director of the United Way of Hardin County, Sean Beck, will be giving a presentation.

We will also be finishing plans for the upcoming Merry on Main event & MORE! We hope to see you at the Ada Public Library for our meeting!
