#11 Men’s Soccer falls 1-0 to Williams (Mass.) in third round of NCAA Tournament

GAMBIER — In a tightly contested defensive battle, the Ohio Northern men's soccer team fell 1-0 to Williams (Mass.) in the third round of the NCAA Division III Tournament on Saturday afternoon at Mavec Field on the campus of Kenyon College.

The Polar Bears end their season with an overall record of 13-4-5, while the Ephs improve to 8-1-11 and advance to Sunday's national quarterfinals.

Privacy reminder during Medicare open enrollment

COLUMBUS – Ohio Department of Insurance director Judith L. French is cautioning the more than 2.5 million Ohioans on Medicare to be on alert for scams attempting to steal their personal information during the current Medicare open enrollment period, which runs through Dec. 7. 

Consumers should watch for fake Medicare communications seeking personal information or money in exchange for any of the following: to help with enrollment, to schedule health services, to sign up for a Part D prescription drug plan or Medicare health plan coverage, or to provide a new Medicare card.

Deborah Sanders obituary

Deborah "Debb" Diane Sanders, 69, passed away November 18, 2022 at Bluffton Hospital. Debb was born July 24, 1953 in Lima to the late Charles and Opal (Williams) Webb. 

Debb graduated from Allen East High School. She loved and adored her previous job as a nanny. Debb was a life member of High Street Freewill Baptist in Harrod. She was a seamstress, cake decorator and was a jack of all trades.  

AHS girls basketball edged by Panthers to tip off season

The feisty Ada High School girls basketball team fashioned a big second-half comeback, but ultimately lost to visiting McComb 49-40 in a spirited season opener Friday night.

The Bulldogs rallied from a 14-point deficit to within three in the second half, but a 9-0 McComb spurt midway through the fourth period spelled the difference in the outcome. 

The Ada offense got untracked in the final 13 minutes, yet they were unable to overcome a slow start and 19 turnovers. However, the Bulldog girls kept battling and made a close game of it late before falling just short.

Ada school breaks approaching

With ONU students away for Thanksgiving break and Ada’s K-12 students only in class on Monday, November 21, the upcoming week should feel a bit different, even if you’re not on break yourself.

Village offices and the Ada Public Library will be closed on Thursday and Friday.
