Ada Schools Veterans Breakfast invitation, November 11

CORRECTED DATE The Ada School Disrict invites all veterans and their families, as well as active duty service personnel who live, work or worship in the district to attend the Monday, November 11 Veterans Breakfast. The meal will be served from 8:00-9:00 a.m. A speaker and brief presentation will be at 8:30 a.m. Call 419-634-2746 to make a reservation.

Park District board meeting moved to October 28

The Park District of Liberty Township has moved its October board meeting to 6:00 p.m. on Monday, October 28.

The meeting will take place at the park office at 600 S Simon St, Ada.

The Road Not Taken: Do OTC supplements help lower cholesterol?

Robert Frost’s 20-line narrative poem The Road Not Taken was published in the August 1915 issue of Atlantic Monthly. He released a collection of his poetry in 1916 titled Mountain Interval. In the poem, there are two equal paths covered in leaves and one must decide their path.

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has two paths for approving an over the counter (OTC) supplement. Is there a difference? ▶︎

Kiwanis Halloween Parade is October 28

5:15 p.m. registration, 6:00 p.m. parade, Ada Municipal Building parking lot

The 2024 Ada Kiwanis Halloween Parade will be held on Monday, October 28. 

Registration begins at 5:15 p.m. Judging and the parade begin at 6:00 p.m. 

There are 7 costume categories with trophies awarded at the end of the parade:

  • Preschool & Kindergarten
  • 1st-2nd grades
  • 3rd-4th grades
  • 5th-6th grades
  • Groups of any age with pets
  • Adults
  • Ada band members

 

Blessings for Christmas sign-ups

The Ada Blessings for Christmas project has scheduled family sign-up events and is accepting sponsors for 2024.

  • Thursday October 24, 2024 from 6-7:30 p.m. 
  • Saturday October 26, 2024 from 10 am-12 p.m. 
  • Monday October 28, 2024 from 6-7:30 p.m. 
  • Wednesday October 30, 2024 from 6-7:30 p.m. 

Sign-ups will be held at First Presbyterian Church of Ada, 201 South Main Street, Ada, at the corner of Lincoln and Main streets. Please use side entrance on Lincoln Street across from the Post Office.

Ada Schools issue October 23 notice of threat, person of interest detained

From the Ada, Ohio Police Department at 7:20 p.m., October 23

On Wednesday, October 23, 2024 at 3:20 p.m. the Ada Police Department was alerted by the Ada High School and the Hardin County Sheriff's Office, of a potential threat made against the high school by a student.

Ada officers located the student at his residence, as he had not been at the school. The student was detained and transported to the Ada Police Department.
