15 minutes with Eileen

There are very few Village of Ada employees who have the opportunity to speak with residents as often as clerk Eileen, who is a valuable member of the water utility team that ensures your water tap keeps flowing! The Village of Ada provides water, sewer and stormwater utilities to nearly all Village residents, and Eileen is often the first person residents see when signing up for water utilities. Learn more about Eileen and how she plays a role in ensuring residents have access to clean, safe water.

Q. Where did you grow up?

I was born in Toledo and grew up in McComb.

Q. When did you begin working for the Village and what made you decide to pursue an administrative career?

I started with the Village in late Spring of 2015 as a Utility Billing Clerk. At the end 2018, Doris retired as our Police Department Clerk and we took over the clerking duties for the Police Dept. at that time.

Ohio Northern women win OAC All-Sports Trophy

Cole Zaferakis, Grace Honigford win Clyde Lamb Awards; Wilson named Female Administrator of the Year

The Ohio Northern women won the 2023-24 Ohio Athletic Conference All-Sports Trophy, while the ONU men finished third, the league office announced Monday night at the 40th annual Clyde Lamb Awards banquet at Otterbein.

Bulldog baseball edged by Rockets in sectionals

PANDORA __ The visiting Ada High School baseball team lost a 3-1 pitcher’s duel to Pandora-Gilboa in the Div. IV sectional semifinals Wednesday evening, May 15.

The game was postponed from Tuesday.

P-G scored first in the bottom of the second, but Ada tied it one-all by plating its lone run in the top of the third.

Junior shortstop Levi Green tallied the Bulldog run that knotted it up, 1-1. 

The Rockets regained the lead with a run in the home third, then added an insurance run in the fifth to go ahead 3-1. The hosts held Ada scoreless over the final four innings despite being out-hit, 9-6.

Fly Me to the Moon: Selenium and Health

Kaye Ballard sang the 1954 song In Other Words, which was the original version for Frank Sinatra’s 1964 Fly Me to the Moon. Bart Howard–who wrote the song–estimated by the time Sinatra released his, at least 100 versions had been recorded. 

Speaking of the moon!  The chemical element selenium was named for the Greek Goddess of the moon known as Selene.  Selenium is a critical micronutrient for health, but it has some side effects when taken in large quantities.
