Author Vanessa Diffenbaugh featured speaker for 11th CommunityREAD

Author Vanessa Diffenbaugh will speak at Winebrenner Auditorium in Findlay on Friday, March 15 at 7 p.m.  Tickets are available at the library’s check-out desk for $5 and at the door the evening of the presentation.

Her appearance is the feature event for the eleventh annual CommunityREAD.

CommunityREAD is a month-long community event that encourages reading and promotes the benefits of literacy. 

Originally created by the Findlay-Hancock County Community Foundation, the administration of CommunityREAD was assumed by the Findlay-Hancock County Public Library in 2012.

Ladies Tropical Event features 15 vendors

Ladies Tropical Event will be held on Saturday, March 23, from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. at Community Health Professionals, 1200 South Main Street. 

Admission for the event is free.

The event will feature many products and services for sale by vendors from Ada, Findlay, Kenton, Lima and surrounding area.   
 

Toe nail clinic held once a month in Ada

Community Health Professionals will hold its monthly toe nail clinic on Wednesday, March 27 at 1 p.m.   Community Health Professionals is located at 1200 South Main Street.

The clinic is offered for a sliding fee donation.

ONU’s Gamma Lamda chapter of Epsilon Pi Tau named ‘Region 3 Chapter of the Year’

Ohio Northern University’s Gamma Lamda chapter of Epsilon Pi Tau, the international honorary society for professions in technology, received the Region 3 Chapter of the Year award during the William E. Warner Awards Program at the International Technology and Engineering Educators Association conference in Columbus, Ohio, on March 8.

This marks the second consecutive year the Gamma Lambda Chapter has been recognized as the top chapter in Region 3, which covers Ohio, Indiana, Michigan, Kentucky and Ontario, Canada. The group has garnered this recognition six out of the last 10 years.

Carly Olmstead named OAC womens tennis player of the week

Junior Carly Olmstead has been named Ohio Athletic Conference Women's Tennis Player of the Week.

This is the second straight week that Northern (9-2) has garnered in the award, as sophomore Brittany Miller was named player of the week last week (March 3).

Olmstead posted a perfect 2-0 record in doubles play.

On Tuesday, she teamed with junior Lauren Rife to win 8-4 at No. 3 doubles against Biola (Calif.).

She posted the lone doubles victory at No. 3 doubles with freshman Meghan Letizia in Northern's 6-3 loss to Whitter (Calif.).

Olmstead posted a 4-0 doubles record on the trip and is now 7-1 in doubles play on the season.

Do Thai named OAC men's tennis player of the week

Junior Do Thai has been named OAC Men's Tennis Player of the Week for the week of March 11.

Thai posted a 7-1 record last week as the Polar Bears (3-4) went 3-1 on their spring trip in Orlando, Fla.

On Tuesday against Wartburg (Iowa), Thai won 6-2, 6-2 at No. 3 singles and 9-7 at No. 2 doubles.

Against Wabash (Ind.) on Wednesday, Thai teamed with junior Josh Saunders to win the clinching match at No. 2 doubles by a 9-7 score. He also won 2-6, 6-0, 6-3 at No. 3 singles.
