Lyla Jo Howells, age 6 months, passed away on Wednesday, December 11, 2024 at home. 

She was born on May 28, 2024 in Springfield, Ohio to Willit L. Hardin and Amelia Howells, they survive in Alger.  

Also surviving is her sister, Evelynn Hardin; paternal grandparents: Barry and Teresa Hardin; maternal grandparents: Trenton and Tina Howells; great grandfather, Max Winters; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. 

Private family services will be held. 

Memorial contributions may be made to Hanson-Neely-Allison Funeral & Cremation Services, P.O. Box 38, Ada, Ohio 45810 for the benevolence of the family. 

The Ada School Board will meet at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, Decmeber 19, 2024.

Board members are Ronald Fleming, President; Ted Griffith, Matt Gossman, Troy Erickson and Justin Hollon.

ADA – The Ada High School girls basketball team lost 56-21 to visiting Riverdale in a Blanchard Valley Conference contest Thursday, December 12.

The Bulldogs were outscored 26-6 after intermission and went scoreless in the final period.    

The defeat dropped the Bulldog record to 0-6 overall and 0-3 in the Blanchard Valley Conference. The Falcon girls improved to 4-2 overall and 2-0 in the BVC after the victory.
“It was a repeat of giving up too many offensive rebounds and making too many turnovers,” said Ada third-year head coach Zach Ricker. “Many of the turnovers were not really forced.

“We have to improve in rebounding the ball defensively,” he continued. “We can’t give up 20 extra shots a game between turnovers and offensive rebounds.”

Hardin County Sheriff's Office issued a Level 1 Snow Emergency as of 10:30 p.m. on Wednesday, December 11: The roads are snow and ice covered with blowing snow making visibility difficult. Please use extra caution while driving and allow for extra time for your travels.

Ohio Northern University has received a $1.19 million Choose Ohio First (COF) grant from the Ohio Department of Education (ODHE) to support students in Science, Technology, Engineering, Math (STEM), and health professions.

State Wildlife Officer Levi Farley, assigned to Paulding County, observed an angler throwing a cast net along the Auglaize River. The individual caught a crappie with the cast net and harvested the fish. Officer Farley contacted the individual and issued a misdemeanor summons for possessing a sport fish by means other than angling. The suspect paid $150 in fines and court costs.

In March of 1972, Todd Rundgren released one of his more popular songs titled I Saw the Light. As a solo artist, he was best known as a progressive rocker. Rundgren was also known as a prolific songwriter and producer. I Saw the Light has been covered for over 4 decades by various artists. Many may not realize he wrote the musical score for the 911 movie titled A Face to a Name. He was a pioneer in using the internet to distribute music in the 1990s.
