Regional and OneOhio Recovery foundation meetings announced

OneOhio Recovery Foundation, a 501(c)(3) charitable organization, charged with helping distribute Ohio’s opioid settlement funds to advance substance use prevention, treatment, and recovery efforts, has begun holding meetings at the foundation in Columbus and in 19 regions.

Election notice for Hardin Soil and Water Conservation District

The Ohio Soil and Water Conservation Commission will cause an election of Supervisors of the Hardin Soil and Water Conservation District (SWCD) to be held in accordance with Chapter 940 of the Ohio Revised Code.

Boogie Wonderland: Dancing and the brain

Boogie Wonderland was released in April 1979 by Earth, Wind & Fire for Columbia Records.  The song won a Grammy for the Best R&B Instrumental Performance. Maurice White founded the group in 1969 and the name derives from his astrological sign of Sagittarius. The group was inducted in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as well as receiving Kennedy Center Honors in 2019. As with much of the Earth, Wind & Fire music, Boogie Wonderland really makes you want to jump up and dance.  

Research has already shown us the importance of physical activity and brain health, but does dancing in any form help our brain and mental health?

Board of Education meets July 18

The Ada Exempted Village Schools Board of Education will hold its July meeting at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 18.

Diane L. Lansing worked at Heterick Memorial Library

Diane L. Lansing, age 71, of Ada, passed away on Tuesday, July 9, 2024 at Mercy Health-St. Rita's Medical Center, Lima.  

August 17 Family Bike Program in Kenton is waitlisted

The Bike Program is FULL. Organizers will take names on a waiting list in case there are cancellations.

Kenton-Hardin Health Department will be hosting their annual Family Bike Program on August 17 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Mid-Ohio Energy Cooperative.

Register now for cheerleading competition at Hardin County Fair

Registration Forms must be postmarked by August 1,2024.

The Hardin County Agricultural Society is hosting a cheerleading competition at the Hardin County Fair on Sunday, September 8, 2024 at 12:30 p.m. The competition is for school squads, recreation squads, local gyms, and USASF teams.

The competition will have tumbling & non-tumbling and stunting & non-stunting divisions in the following categories: Competition (3 minute limit); Game Day (3 minute limit) **Incorporates Fight Song, Crowd-Leading and Band Chant w/transitions; or Fight Song Only (1 minute limit).

Dementia and dignity

Bill Herr taught high school mathematics and science for 32 years. After retiring from teaching, he began a nursing home ministry, first as a volunteer and then as a nursing home chaplain. He has written columns for the Icon on Bluffton sports history and on being a chaplain.

 J. Larry Klingler was a farmer

 J. Larry Klingler, age 88, of Ada, passed away on Monday, July 8, 2024 at Bridge Hospice Care Center at Blanchard Valley Hospital, Findlay.
