Ada girls soccer shut out by Liberty-Benton

By Cort Reynolds

On September 14 the Ada High School girls soccer team lost a non-conference match to visiting Liberty-Benton 10-0 at War Memorial Park Stadium.

The Bulldogs fell to 4-3 this season with the defeat. The Eagles improved to 5-2-3 in with the lopsided victory.

"The biggest plus we take away from this is playing a full 80 minutes hard, regardless of the score," said first-year Ada head coach Doug Dewese.

"Liberty-Benton is one of the best teams in our area, so this was obviously a big hill to climb. The girls fought hard and that's all I can ask as a coach," he added.

Variations

By Karen Kier
Pharmacist on behalf of the ONU HealthWise team

While finding a lead-in, I was looking for idioms related to variations.  I was surprised to see that the bunny hop is considered a variation of the conga.  The bunny hop was demonstrated on television by Ray Anthony in 1952, as well as being on the Disney’s Dance Along in 2013.

Ray Anthony and his Orchestra played and recorded the Conga.  I remember the Conga as performed by Gloria Estefan and the Miami Sound Machine.  I have been a fan of Gloria Estefan not only for the music but for her restaurant.  She owns Estefan Kitchen Orlando in Florida and it is a favorite!

The Ada High School volleyball team played well but lost to visiting three-time league champion Lincolnview in a tough four-set Northwest Conference match Tuesday evening, September 13.

The 25-23, 25-18, 21-25, 25-8 defeat dropped the Lady Bulldog record to 6-4 overall and 0-2 in the NWC. Lincolnview improved to 7-1 and 1-0 in the NWC with the win as they seek a fourth straight conference crown.

"I was really pleased we fought so hard," said Ada head coach Kyleigh Woodruff. "We came back to win the fourth set. It was a very competitive match with a lot of great hustle on both sides."
