Why I am talking about vegetables and specifically broccoli?

Veggie Tales is an American Christian animation project created by Phil Vischer and Mike Nawrocki. The computer-generated show features various fruits and vegetables that retell stories from the Bible. I loved watching these features with my daughter when she was a child and I remember singing some of the silly songs in the car.

Lady Bulldogs felled by big Riverdale 1st inning

The Ada High School varsity softball team fell behind big early to non-league foe Riverdale and lost 25-2 Tuesday evening at War Memorial Park.

The Lady Bulldog record is now 2-4. The Lady Falcons improved to 4-1 after the win.

Riverdale scored a whopping 15 runs in the top of the first inning to put the game out of reach. The Falcon girls plated 12 runs before recording an out.

The Falcons scored four more runs in each of the second and fourth frames. They added one score apiece in the third and fifth innings.

Bulldog baseball blanked by Falcons

The Ada High Schoolbaseball team lost 12-0 at Riverdale Tuesday evening, April 12. Ada was supposed to host the game, but the contest was moved to Riverdale due to wet fields.

The Bulldogs fell to 2-4 with the defeat. Undefeated Riverdale improved to 5-0 with the win.

Falcon hurler Gunner King pitched a one-hitter to post the victory.

Riverdale scored four runs over the first two innings to build a 4-0 lead. The Falcons pushed eight runs across the plate in the fifth frame to invoke the 10-run rule.

Bulldog junior Roman Snyder collected the lone Ada hit with a leadoff double in the fourth inning.

Week-long document shredding event at Liberty National Bank

Week of May 2

During the week of May 2, Liberty National Bank, 118 S. Main, will have available locked containers for individuals to drop off unwanted paperwork to be destroyed. These containers will be available during office hours, Monday through Saturday, May 2-6.

Please limit the shred to 5 boxes, no larger than 20” wide x 10” high.

This is a free service to the community to help fight the growing concern of identity theft. It is estimated that as many as 9 million U.S. residents have their identities stolen every year.

Liberty National Bank operates offices in Hardin, Franklin, Logan and Union Counties.

Bulldogs sweep track quadrangular

The Ada High School boys and girls track and field teams each won a four-team home meet at War Memorial Stadium Tuesday evening, April 12.

The Lady Bulldogs easily out-pointed North Baltimore (95-43) to win the girls event. The Ada boys edged local rival Allen East (99.5-89) to capture first place.

Ada sophomore distance ace Josie Phillips won both the 1600 and 3200-meter runs to pace the victorious Bulldog girls.

On a glorious spring day, 3 Brothers Family Pizza at 105 S. Main was offering a treat to tempt the Easter Bunny, carrot cake ice cream. The Icon couldn't resist sharing their Facebook post.

Apply by April 14 for Ada Junior Track Meet

May 1 is the 2nd annual Ada Junior Track Meet. All students in grades K-6 are encouraged to participate. Medals will be awarded to top places and every student will get a t-shirt.

The registration form is attached to this story and additional copies are available in the elementary office.

Euclid man indicted in death of Officer Dominic Francis

On April 11, a Euclid man was indicted in the death of Bluffton police officer Dominic Francis, who was killed on March 31 while trying to stop a car fleeing at high speed near the I-75 exit at State Route 103.

Emin R. Johnson, 20, faces a 10-count indictment that includes charges of involuntary manslaughter and aggravated vehicular homicide. He is believed to be the driver of the car that struck Francis, according to the Findlay Courier. Johnson is currently in the Hancock County Justice Center,

Reed named d3wrestle.com Freshman of the Year.

ONU freshman Jacob Reed (Canal Winchester/Lancaster) has been named the 2022 d3wrestle.com Freshman of the Year.

Reed (43-5) placed third in the 141-pound weight class at the 2002 NCAA Division III Wrestling Championships and was the highest finishing freshman in the tournament.

He is ONU's 19th All-American and his third place finish is the best in school history by a freshman, surpassing the fourth place finish by two-time national champion Kyle Kwiat in 2010.

The Polar Bears went 13-5 overall and were third in the Ohio Athletic Conference with a 4-2 record under 32nd-year head coach Ron Beaschler.

Ada Schools announce remote learning on April 12

The Ada Schools announced a day of remote learning for April 12, 2022, because of heavy fog. The announcement noted that assignments would be posted by 10:00 a.m.

The National Weather Service has issued a Dense Fog Advisory for the region until 9 a.m., noting hazardous driving conditions due to low visibility.
