Ada Diamonds Baseball/Softball registration ends on Sunday, March 7. Sign-up in understand online for the following teams:
• T-ball, ages 5,6,7
• Slow pitch softball, ages 8,9,10
• Fast pitch softball, ages 11, 12,13
• Pee-Wee baseball, ages 8,9,10
• Little League baseball, ages 11,12,13
• Pony League baseball, ages 13, 14
In addition to play sign-up, the squads are looking for persons interested in coaching or helping umpire for one game.
Ohio Northern used another outstanding defensive effort and scored the first 12 points of the fourth quarter to pull away for a 61-44 victory at Otterbein in the quarterfinals of the Ohio Athletic Conference Tournament Tuesday night at the Rike Center.
The seventh-seeded Polar Bears improve to 7-7 on the season and advance to the semifinals on Thursday night at top-seeded and No. 12-ranked John Carroll (11-2).
The second-seeded Cardinals end their season at 8-5.
ONU led 42-36 after three periods and used the 12-0 run to take a commanding 54-36 advantage with 5:35 left in the game.
Sophomore Landen Long (Mason) scored a career-high 25 points to lead Ohio Northern to an 80-79 victory at John Carroll in the quarterfinals of the Ohio Athletic Conference Men's Basketball Tournament on Tuesday night at the DeCarlo Center.
The fifth-seeded Polar Bears (4-6 overall) advance to the semifinals and will host sixth-seeded Muskingum on Thursday night at the ONU Cports Center.
The fourth-seeded Blue Streaks end their season at 4-4.
Sophomore Adam Scott (Wapakoneta) added a career-high 16 points and sophomore Grant Heileman (Millersport/Sheridan) tied a career-high with 15 points for Ohio Northern.

Ada’s newest fire truck was called into action for the first time today as an apparent electrical malfunction in the Beatitudes building, 210 N. Main St., put a scare into Main Street.
Ada-Liberty Township fire department received the call at 1:03 p.m.
According to Deb Curlis, Beatitudes store manager, in the building at the time told The Icon, “There were no flames and no smoke coming out of the roof, but it appeared that some smoke was coming from some of the ceiling tiles inside the building.”
Curlis said that she along with one customer and three Beatitude volunteers were in the building at the time.
Anna M. “Sally” Rowe, 71, passed away on Sunday, Feb. 28, 2021, at 5:55 p.m. at her residence in Alger.
She was born on April 13, 1949, in Kenton to DeWayne and Lucille (Poe) Salsbury. On Jan. 28, 1968, Sally married Harlow Rowe and he passed away on Feb. 9, 1999.
Sally retired from Procter and Gamble. She was a member of the Ada VFW Post #9381 Ladies Auxiliary. She loved to shop on QVC, having cookouts, riding in her Mustang, going to the shooting range, and watching Ohio State football. She especially loved being with her family and watching the grandkids run around.
Always Right Driving School, 205 N. High St., Columbus Grove, announces a driver’s education class planned on six consecutive Sundays except for Easter Sunday, according to Kay Ruen.
Classes are held at the Putnam County Educational Service Center, 124 Putnam Parkway, Ottawa.
