41 degree temperature range experienced in August

August temperature’s experienced a 41-degree range, according to Guy Verhoff, Pandora weather observer.

The month’s high reading of 92 degrees was on Aug. 25 and 27. The low was 51 degrees on Aug. 5.

Soccer: Ada shut out by Miller City

ADA - The Ada boys soccer team lost 3-0 to visiting Miller City Wednesday evening.

The defeat dropped the Bulldog overall record to 2-3, while the Wildcats improved to 2-0-1 with the win.

MC put the game out of reach on a goal with 96 seconds remaining.

Ada sophomore keeper Grant Preston made 10 saves in goal.     

Ada (1-0 NWC) entertains Paulding (0-2, 0-0 NWC) in a Northwest Conference match Tuesday, Sept. 8.
 

Brauen's gourd open house Saturday and Sunday

Don and Jodi Brauen's fall gourd open house is this weekend. Located at 7140 Tom Fett Road, Bluffton, hours are:
• Saturday, Sept. 5
   9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
• Sunday, Sept. 6
   Noon to 3 p.m.

Ada Icon sports writer, Cort Reynolds had two articles published recently on two different national hoop websites:

Charges expected to be filed against two juveniles

Ada depot park will now be closed to the public from dusk to dawn

As a result of vandalism to the Ada depot, Ada’s council moved to close the depot park from dusk to dawn. The action took place at Tuesday’s council meeting.

According to Michael Harnishfeger, police chief, the depot was vandalized on Aug. 18 with graffiti. Words and images were spray painted on the depot. In addition, random vehicles in the community were also hit by vandalism.

The police have two juvenile suspects and charges against them will be filed in Hardin County Juvenile Court, according to Harnishfeger.

National honors to HealthWise Pharmacy and Dr. David Nau

From American Pharmacists Association Foundation

Ohio Northern University faculty recently received two 2020 Pinnacle Awards from the American Pharmacists Association Foundation.

ONU HealthWise, the campus and community wellness initiative, and Dr. David Nau, professor of social and administrative pharmacy and an ONU pharmacy alumnus, were the award recipients for two of the three annual categories.

ONU HealthWise received the 2020 award in the category of non-profit organizations, and Nau received the 2020 award in the category of individual career achievement.

This Covid-19 question video series is in cooperation with Ada SAFE 2020. The series is the collective work of experts, community leaders, organizers, parents, and members of the community.

The question is: "How do we help kids cope with all of the questions surrounding COVID-19?"

In the accompanying video. Dr. Ann Johnson, Associate Professor of Psychology at Ohio Northern University, responds.

She received her training in clinical psychology. Prior to joining the faculty at ONU, she completed a clinical internship providing treatment to youth at Boys Town in Omaha, and graduate training at the University of Notre Dame.

Ada runs at Waynesfield tri-meet

Riley Ferguson paced boys with a 23:15 time; Jillian Hazelton led the girls with a time of 33:59

WAYNESFIELD - The Ada cross country team competed at the Waynesfield-Goshen triangular meet on a humid Tuesday evening.

"The kids ran really well and everyone took time off from last meet," said coach Josh Klein. "All of the girls took 2:40 to five minutes off of last week's meet.

"We also added Cole Anspach to the boys team, who ran a 26:12 in his first meet," he added. Anspach finished third out of the four Bulldog boys.

Junior Riley Ferguson paced the Ada boys with a 23:15 time, an improvement of 26 seconds from the first meet a week ago at Ben Logan. 

Bulldog golfers play NWC tri  

Dexter Woods carded a 52, Kamron Wilkerson right behind with a 53, Jacob Morgan shot a round of 54.

KALIDA - The Ada golf team competed in a three-team Northwest Conference match at Moose Landing Golf Course near Kalida Tuesday evening.

Paulding finished first in the event with 179 strokes, followed by Columbus Grove (186) and Ada (224).

The Bulldogs dropped to 1-20 overall and 0-9 in the NWC with the losses. Paulding improved to 12-6 (8-4 NWC) with the wins, while Grove ran its record to 10-9 (4-5 NWC).

Junior Dexter Woods carded a 52 to lead Ada, while classmate Kamron Wilkerson was right behind him with a 53. Senior Jacob Morgan shot a round of 54.
