COLUMBUS GROVE - The Ada cross country teams competed at the annual 45-team Columbus Grove Invitational last Saturday at Clymer Stadium.
All six Bulldog runners took significant time off their previous season-best times.
Ada junior Riley Ferguson finished 55th out of 86 runners to pace the Bulldog boys in the red division race. He covered 3.1 miles in a season-best 20:59.15.
Bulldog sophomore Robby Waters ended up 70th in a time of 22:35.73. Classmate Connor Daugherty came in 77th in 23:57.01.

ADA - The Ada boys soccer team whipped visiting Paulding 6-1 in a conference mismatch on a warm Tuesday evening at the park field.
The lopsided victory upped the Bulldog boys record to 3-2 overall and 2-0 in the Northwest Conference. Paulding fell to 0-4 and 0-1 in the NWC with the defeat.
Ada senior forward Jacob Poling scored four goals to pace the Bulldog attack. Sophomore Carter Conley netted a pair of goals.
The Bulldogs led 6-1 at intermission following the high-scoring first half of play.
Poling and freshmen Carson Gossard, Drew Long and Colton Long each dished out one assist.

The opening of U.S. 68 within the village of Arlington occurred quietly Saturday morning, Sept. 5, ending the four-month closure to complete the two remaining phases the roadway reconstruction project.
The project includes curb and gutter, drainage and storm sewer from the south corporation limit to Liberty Street; and from Buck Run to just north of Wardwell Street.
The village and the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) completed phase 1 in 2018 when the roadway between Liberty Street and Buck Run was reconstructed.

An early-morning fog initially caused Ada schools with a two-hour delay. Then at 8:42 a.m. the schools announced that classes were cancelled for the day (Wednesday, Sept. 9). The announcement was made on Ohio Alerts.

According to the latest U.S. Census reporting, the village of Ada’s census response rate to the census is 58 percent, which trails Ohio and the national participation rate.
Ohio’s overall rate is 72 percent and the national participation rate is only 67 percent.

Ada-Liberty Township Fire Department responded to three fire alarm fire calls – twice on Sept. 7 and once on Sept. 8, according to the Ada police docket.
On Sept. 7 at 9:25 p.m. the department had a call from Taggart Law library. Then, at 11:16 p.m. the department had a call from Hill Hall.
On Sept. 8, the department received a second call to Hill Hall, this one at 11:16 p.m.

COLUMBUS GROVE - Host Columbus Grove rode a potent quick-strike offense to a 52-18 win over Ada in their annual Northwest Conference Bulldog battle Friday night at Clymer Stadium.
CG (2-0, 2-0 NWC East) cruised to a 49-6 halftime lead to pave the way for the one-sided victory. Meanwhile, Ada fell to 0-2 overall and 0-2 in the NWC East with the loss.
"Grove dominated up front on both sides of the ball," said Ada third-year head coach Shawn Christopher. "They are a very good football team, and I see them as one of the best in the area.

KENTON - The Ada golf team finished third in the four-team Hardin County Invitational at the Kenton Memorial Golf Course Saturday.
Host Kenton won the tournament with a total of 187 strokes. Ridgemont finished second with a 196 score, followed by Ada (237) and Riverdale (249).
The Bulldog linksters improved to 2-22 after the event.
Junior Andrew Rush paced the Bulldogs with a nine-hole score of 52. Senior Jacob Morgan was second with a 60, followed closely by junior Dexter Woods at 61. Sophomore Geddes Klingler was the fourth scorer with a round of 64.
