WAYNESFIELD - The Ada cross country team competed at the Waynesfield-Goshen triangular meet on a humid Tuesday evening.
"The kids ran really well and everyone took time off from last meet," said coach Josh Klein. "All of the girls took 2:40 to five minutes off of last week's meet.
"We also added Cole Anspach to the boys team, who ran a 26:12 in his first meet," he added. Anspach finished third out of the four Bulldog boys.
Junior Riley Ferguson paced the Ada boys with a 23:15 time, an improvement of 26 seconds from the first meet a week ago at Ben Logan.
Sophomore Robby Waters ran second for the Bulldogs, ending up with a 24:33 finish, a 3:35 improvement from last Tuesday. "Robby really stepped up his game and looked strong," Klein noted.
Soph Connor Daugherty was the fourth Ada runner and came in with a time of 27:12.
Jillian Hazelton led the Ada girls with a time of 33:59. Teammate Elise Allen came in a mere second behind her at 34 minutes flat. Malia Santillanez crossed the finish line in 35:46.
"Elsie took off 4:15, Jillian cut almost five minutes and Malia 2:40," Klein reported. "They have a lot to be proud of for cutting that much time in a week as brand new runners."
Taylor Spencer of host W-G won the girls individual race. "She is a heck of an athlete," Klein noted.
