DEFIANCE - The Ada tennis team finished a close second in the six-team Northern Buckeye Tennis League tournament at Defiance College's George M. Smart Athletic Center on Friday.
Bryan ended the two-year Bulldog hold on the league title when Jay Fortner captured the first singles championship over Ada senior Cade Mullins.
Freshman Fortner won the decisive match for the NBTL crown and first singles championship 6-2, 6-1 to ensure Bryan's first NBTL title in five years.
Bryan (13-1) edged Ada 13 points to 12. The Bulldogs won the 2018 NBTL title outright, and finished in a four-way tie for first in 2017.

Junior Brady Guest (Convoy/Crestview) smashed a two-run home run to cap a three-run fifth inning Sunday afternoon, propelling Ohio Northern past third-seeded Baldwin Wallace 4-2 in game five of the Ohio Athletic Conference Tournament at Donna J. Newberry Field.
With the victory, the Polar Bears improve to 23-18 overall on the season. In addition, ONU books a spot in the OAC Tournament championship series with fourth-seeded Otterbein this afternoon, scheduled for 2:30 p.m. An "if necessary" game seven is slated for 4:30 p.m. as Northern must defeat the Cardinals twice to repeat as OAC Champions.
The Yellow Jackets drop to 33-10 overall with the loss.

Myths about vaccines are widespread. These misconceptions often cause people to skip important, potentially life-saving vaccines.
Check out the truth about these four common vaccine misconceptions:
Myth 1: Vaccines cause autism spectrum disorder (ASD)
There has been a lot of debate about whether vaccines cause autism. Studies to date show no association between vaccines and ASD. One controversial vaccine ingredient was thimerosal, a preservative that contains mercury. However, no link was found between this ingredient and ASD.

It is common knowledge that smoking cigarettes and drinking alcohol can be harmful for an unborn baby. Unfortunately, many people do not realize how dangerous marijuana use can be to a pregnant mother and her baby as well.
Although marijuana is now legal in many states, it does not mean it is safe to use during pregnancy.

Why is Betty Elzay the first and only woman ever elected to council in our 136 year-history? I decided to go back in our town history and see if I could find some answers.
