Bulldogs score 30 in first period

In homecoming against Delphos Jefferson

By Dusty Donley
Behind a strong showing from Junior backup quarterback Phillip Coulson, the Bulldogs opened up a 30-0 first half lead en route to a 38-6 Northwest Conference victory over the visiting Delphos Jefferson Wildcats on Homecoming night.

Coulson accounted for five scores in the victory, which moves Ada to 1-0 in the NWC and 2-2 on the season.

Speedy Junior running back Ty Miller opened the scoring for the Bulldogs early in the first quarter when he plunged in for a 1-yard touchdown.  Senior Noah Mattson’s extra point attempt was no good, holding the Ada lead at 6-0 with just over seven minutes to play in the opening period.

Men’s soccer at home Tuesday

The Ohio Northern men's soccer team finishes a brief two-game home stand Tuesday evening when the Polar Bears welcome in Thomas More (Ky.) for a nonconference contest under the lights at Kerscher Stadium ... Match time is set for 7 p.m. in Ada ... Tuesday's affair will start a busy three-match week for ONU as they are also slated for travel to Anderson (Ind.) and Rose-Hulman (Ind.) on Friday and Saturday, respectively ... Northern currently sports a 3-2-1 overall record.

How many miles is Ada from Marion?

What a great snapshot.

Although we don't know the exact location of this photo, it's in the Ada neighborhood.

And, now we know how far from Ada is Lima, Alger, Kenton and Marion. Before the invention of the GPS, road sign markers pointed the way. In this 1931 photo the sign post shows:
• Lima at 15 miles, or is it 16?
• Alger at 3 miles
• Kenton at 13 miles
• Marion at 40 miles

One of the events was Bright Pink 5K Race for the Cure. Sixty-five runners participated. Their goal: raise $750 for the prevention and early detection of breast and ovarian cancer. Kappa Epsilon, the student society of health-system pharmacists, and Zeta Tau Alpha, a social sorority, sponsored the race.

Other ONU Family Day activities included a fine arts exhibit, inflatables on the Tundra, and a tailgate.

Large crowd, record number of vendors, a perfect festival

Not to mention a great parade

Story and photos by Monty Siekerman
A large crowd was on hand for the 33rd annual Ada Harvest and Herb Fest on Saturday. Good weather, a record number of vendors, the crowning of a queen, a parade and family-friendly entertainment drew many people to Ada’s Main Street from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. Almost magically, everyone was packed up, the street sweeper had done its job, and SR 235 was open to traffic by 5 p.m.
