Lady Bulldog soccer grounded by Eagles

ADA - Talented Liberty-Benton came to Ada and shut out the Lady Bulldog soccer team 9-0 Wednesday at the park.

The defeat dropped the Ada season record to 2-3.

"We lost to a strong Liberty-Benton team," said second-year Bulldog head coach Doug Poling.

The Eagles led 5-0 at the half and added four goals after intermission.

L-B out-shot Ada 32-4. Junior keeper McKenzie Long made 23 saves in goal for the Bulldogs.

The Lady Bulldogs (0-1 NWC, 1-2 home) resume play after a layoff when they entertain league foe Crestview Tuesday, September 11.

Is homecoming in the air at Ada High School? Looks like it. Here's today's announcements at AHS from the school website:

STUDENT-COUNCIL HOMECOMING: Guest request forms are available in the high school office for the Homecoming dance, Sept. 15.  If you are planning to bring a date who does not attend Ada High School, this form needs to be filled out and returned to the high school office by Sept. 14, by 3:30 pm.  Also, school fees will need to be paid before a ticket can be purchased.

Three Ada scouts advance

Three scouts from Ada Troop 124 moved up in rank at the recent Court of Honor held at the Ada War Memorial Park.

Joe Crawford, on the left, received his Tenderfoot Patch. Robby Waters, center, and Jacob Bassitt, right, both achieved the hard to earn Second Class award. All three scouts said they are working toward the coveted Eagle Scout rank.

Missing children found in Kenton

HARDIN COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE

August 28, 2018 For immediate release:

Four children who were abducted from Lima in the early hours of Tuesday morning were located in Kenton Tuesday afternoon, following an intensive search by Hardin County Sheriff's deputies, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).

The children had been taken from a Lima residence by their mother, Marianne Merritt, who does not have custody rights and her boyfriend, Charles Perkins.

Women’s golf opens this weekend

The Ohio Northern women's golf team will have a slightly new look when they tee up for the first time during the 2018-19 campaign, seeking their 17th consecutive upper-division finish at the Ohio Athletic Conference Championships under sixth-year head coach Chad Bucci.

Last year, the Polar Bears compiled a 27-18 overall record and wound up fifth at the Ohio Athletic Conference Championships.

Bulldog linksters lose NWC tri match

OTTAWA - The Ada golf team competed in a three-team Northwest Conference match Tuesday at Country Acres Golf Club in Ottawa.

Paulding won the event with 179 strokes, with host Columbus Grove second (186) and Ada third (226).

Ada fell to 2-18 overall and 1-8 in NWC play after the meet. Paulding is 10-4 and 4-3 in the NWC, while Grove is 9-5 and 3-3 in league play.

Brevin Sizemore led the Bulldogs with a score of 51. Ethan Hull carded a 55 and Alex Morgan posted a 58. Austin Amburgey registered a 62.

Rob Allison shot 66 and Jake Colwell added an 87.

Delaney Johnson, 2, checks out a made-in-Ada NFL football while perched on her dad, Steve Johnson's shoulders. There are many trick plays in football, and this is the first we've seen when a daughter carries the ball on her father's back.

Wilson employees creating footballs on site was among the most popular pieces of Saturday's Made in Ada Wilson Football Festival.
