At an Alger community breakfast you leave with a full belly and a smile on your face

Story and photos by Monty Siekerman
When you go to an Alger community breakfast you leave with a full belly and a smile on your face.

As you enter the building at 210 N. Main, you are greeted with a hug from 87-year-old Bea Collingsworth. You know you are in for a pleasant time.

This reporter planned to write about a breakfast held in Alger on a monthly basis for the past 10 years, come rain or shine, but ended up with an additional story---that of Bea and her job as "greeter" at the event.

About 100 people showed up during the morning and afternoon to offer support to Amelia and her family, donating over $1,000, canned foods, a handmade biker bear, and more.

When all was said and done, about 25 motorcycles  headed out, escorting the family as far as Marysville.

Miami Dolphins cut Zac Dysert from roster

By Kevin Nogle @thephinsider on Sep 3, 2016, 2:58p

The Miami Dolphins have made another roster move to reduce the size of the team to the regular season limit by this afternoon’s deadline. The latest move is the release of quarterback Zac Dysert:

The release is not really a surprise, with Miami possibly only keeping Ryan Tannehill and Matt Moore at quarterback on the roster. Currently, rookie Brandon Doughty is still on the team as well, though he could be considered for a practice squad position if Miami thinks he can make it through waivers without being claimed.

ESSAY OF THE PRIDE OF ADA - BELOW.

Its given name sounds like a phone number: Pennsylvania 477779.

It’s 75 years old and after a half-century of hard - all out-of-doors - work, it found Ada – or, Ada found it.

It sadly out-lived its usefulness. It became obsolete, and simply turned into a reminder of the good old days of railroading. But, boy, were those good days.

Pennsylvania Railroad caboose 477779 retired in Ada in 1989. Several historic-mind and railroad-loving residents had a vision for Ada’s also retired and proud passenger station – that also avoided demolition.
