Miniature Icon Benne Biscuits eliminate Sunday blahs

The holidays ended and a blah Sunday set in.

The only thing we can think to do in a situation like this is to bake. But what? With the Duke Ellington Orchestra playing in the background, in my attempt to inspire creativity, we blindly took one of the bread books off the shelf.

Here’s what opened: We’ll call it “Miniature Icon Benne Biscuits.”

Here’s how you get to Point Biscuit from Point A:

Turn oven to 450.

½ cup sesame seeds
2 cups white flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
½ teaspoon salt
¼ cup olive oil
¼ cup vegetable oil
¾ cup milk

Here's a thought for 2015: Make commitments, not resolutions

By Laura Finley

It’s 2015. People everywhere are making resolutions…lose weight, read more, quit smoking, etc. To resolve is the act of finding an answer or solution to a problem.

Yet most of our resolutions are never achieved. According to Marti Hope Gonzales, Associate professor of psychology at the University of Minnesota, just six weeks after making a resolution, 80 percent of people either have broken them or cannot even recall what they resolved. And of course, we feel like losers when we don’t achieve these goals.
