SPENCERVILLE __ The visiting Ada High School baseball team lost 10-1 at former Northwest Conference foe Spencerville on a chilly Thursday evening, April 10.

The Bearcats broke open a close 3-1 game with seven runs in the sixth inning to seal the verdict.

Ada’s overall record dropped to 2-4 after the loss. The hosts improved to 2-3 with the victory.

The Bulldogs led 1-0 after the first inning. Senior leadoff hitter Levi Green singled, stole second and scored on an RBI single off the bat of Brody Rister.

The Bearcats took the lead with three runs in the home third.

McCOMB – The visiting Ada High School softball team decisively defeated Blanchard Valley Conference foe McComb 13-2 Wednesday evening, April 9.

The Bulldogs raced to a 10-0 lead after the top of the third inning and cruised to their third straight victory.

“It was nice to get another win,” said fourth-year Ada head coach Jeff Bassitt. “We played clean softball. We did all the small things.”  

Ada improved to 6-1 overall and 2-1 in the BVC after the one-sided conference road win. 

McComb dropped to 1-4 overall and 0-2 in BVC play with the lopsided loss.

ADA — ONU senior Amelia Burger (Centerville) was named the OAC Women's Golfer Player of the Week for the week of April 1-7.

Burger was Co-Medalist with teammate Marisa Alfes (Bellbrook) with an 81-79—160 at the Jimmy Hanlin Golf Classic on Sunday and Monday.

She also finished second of 29 at the Heidelberg Invitational with a 78 on Friday.

This season, Burger shares the team lead with an 80.5 average for 14 rounds.

This is the second time this season and the fourth time in her career that Burger has won the award.

The Polar Bears will return to action Monday at the OAC Spring Preview at River Greens Golf Course in West Lafayette, Ohio.

VANLUE – The visiting Ada High School softball team out-slugged Vanlue 23-10 to win their first Blanchard Valley Conference in a wild contest on a cold Monday evening, April 7.

Bulldog center fielder Tess Griffith smacked four doubles and drove in four runs to pace the onslaught. She added a single for a perfect 5-5 batting day, and tallied four runs.

Ada exploded for 22 combined runs in the third, fourth and fifth innings to rally and win big.

VANLUE – The visiting Ada High School baseball team blanked Vanlue 12-0 to capture their first-ever Blanchard Valley Conference victory Monday, April 7.

Ada led 2-0 after the first inning, and then blew the game open with six runs in the second frame.  

The Bulldogs tacked on two runs in each of the third and fourth frames to invoke the 10-run mercy rule after five frames.

“It was a nice team win,” said Ada head coach Toby Smith. “We are improving each game.”

Ada improved to 2-3 overall and 1-1 in the BVC after the blowout league road victory. Vanlue dropped to 0-1 overall and 0-1 in BVC play with the defeat.
