ADA – The Ada High School softball team defeated visiting county foe Ridgemont handily 8-1 on a warm and windy Friday evening, April 18.
“It was nice to see eight different girls get hits,” said fourth-year Bulldog head coach Jeff Bassitt. “Natilyn’s homer got us off to a good start.”
Ada improved to 11-2 with the decisive victory. The Gophers fell to 2-6 after the defeat.
The Bulldog girls out-hit Ridgemont, 11-3.
Ada took an early lead in the home first and never trailed. With two out, senior Natilyn McClain smoked a line-drive solo home run over the fence in center field to make it 1-0.
ADA – The Ada High School baseball team lost 8-2 to visiting county rival Ridgemont on a windy, warm Friday evening, April 18.
The Bulldogs fell behind 5-0 after three innings. Ada scored single runs in the fourth and fifth frames to edge back into striking distance at 5-2.
But the Gophers plated three big insurance runs in the top of the seventh to put the game out of reach.
Maddox Thompson doubled home two runs in the seventh on a fly ball down the right field line to extend the Gopher lead to 7-2. Another two-bagger by Jon Cromer plated the third and final run of the inning.

ADA – The Ada High School softball team whipped former conference rival Columbus Grove 11-0 in their “Battle of the Bulldogs” on Thursday, April 17.
“It was nice to see a lot of different girls get hits,” said fourth-year Bulldog head coach Jeff Bassitt. “We hit the ball pretty well and pitched well.”
ADA __ The Ada High School baseball team decisively beat Blanchard Valley Conference foe Arlington 7-2 on a sunny but cool Wednesday evening, April 16.
The Bulldogs scored five runs in a big fifth inning to build on their 2-0 lead, then held off a minor rally to win by five.
The Red Devils tallied single runs in each of the last two innings, but it was far too little, too late.
“It was a good team win,” said Ada head coach Toby Smith. “We need to clean up our mental mistakes, and if we can do that we will see more results like this one tonight.”
ADA __ Playing just their second home game of the season, the Ada High School softball team soundly defeated Blanchard Valley Conference foe Arlington 10-0 on Wednesday, April 16.
Senior catcher Natilyn McClain smacked a triple and two doubles to pace the Bulldog offense as she drove in three runs.
Ada senior pitcher Jenna Bassitt hurled a five-inning shutout to win her ninth game. She struck out nine and allowed just two hits with one walk.
“It was good to see us get back on the winning track,” said fourth-year Bulldog head coach Jeff Bassitt. “Natilyn hit and caught well, and Jenna pitched well. Our defense was solid.”
BLOOMDALE – The visiting Ada High School softball team lost a tight 2-1 pitcher’s duel to Blanchard Valley Conference rival Elmwood on Monday, April 14.
Elmwood tied the game with a run in the fourth, then scored the eventual winning run in the fifth. The Bulldog girls had chances to score but couldn’t get the timely hit.
Ada senior pitcher Jenna Bassitt went all six innings. She struck out five and allowed six hits with no walks. She permitted one earned run.
“We had our chances, it was two good teams going at it,” said fourth-year Bulldog head coach Jeff Bassitt. “We didn’t get the hits when we needed them.”
