Visiting league-leader Columbus Grove raced to a 42-0 halftime lead and beat Ada 58-7 in a Northwest Conference game on a rainy Homecoming Friday night.

The game was delayed at the start for an hour by strong rain and lightning.

Grove senior running back Colin Metzger tallied five first half touchdowns to pace the victors.

The purple and gold Bulldogs fell to 1-7 and 0-5 in the NWC with the defeat.

League leader Grove improved to 8-0 and 5-0 in league play with the convincing win.

"We are in the same boat with kids trying hard and doing the best they can," said first-year Ada head coach Toby Smith. "We were in position a lot but didn't make plays.

Purple and gold was pitted against purple and gold when visiting Leipsic swept Ada in a Northwest Conference volleyball match Thursday night, October 7.

The Lady Vikings, ranked sixth in the Ohio Div. IV poll, improved to 18-1 overall and finished 7-1 in NWC play with the win. 

The Lady Bulldogs fell to 2-17 overall and 0-7 in the NWC with the 25-9, 25-12, 25-14 loss. 

Leipsic needs a loss by Lincolnview (7-0 NWC) in their league finale at arch-rival Crestview (6-1 NWC) next Tuesday to force a three-way tie for the title. The Vikings can finish no worse than second.

Visiting Riverdale blanked the Ada boys soccer team 9-0 in a North Central Ohio Soccer Association match under the lights Thursday night, October 7, at War Memorial Stadium.

The Bulldogs fell to 4-7-3 overall and 1-4 in NCOSA action with the defeat. 

The Falcons improved to 5-6-3 and 3-1 in NCOSA play after the decisive win.

Ada plays next at non-league foe LCC (4-8) in Spartan Stadium Monday, Oct. 11.

The Bulldog boys then play at Marion Harding Oct. 14.

Three Ada cross country runners participated in the annual Kyle Althauser Memorial Invitational meet Thursday evening in Kenton.

Bulldog senior Riley Ferguson finished 36th in a time of 21:37.5 as the lone Ada male runner.

Hunter Sidle of Allen East finished first in the 68-runner boys race in 17:00.5.

Marion Pleasant won the seven-team boys team title with 30 points. St. Marys was a distant second with 58 points. Kenton was third (105), Allen East fourth and Hardin Northern fifth (110).

Ada sophomore Jillian Hazelton crossed the line 22nd in the 43-runner girls race with a time of 27:22.6.

The visiting Riverdale soccer team defeated the Ada girls 7-0 in a North Central Ohio Soccer Association match Wednesday evening, October 6, at War Memorial Stadium.

The Lady Bulldog record dropped to 2-8-1 overall and 0-3 in NCOSA action after the defeat.

The Falcon girls improved to 7-6-2 and stayed first in NCOSA play at 4-0-1 with the win.

Riverdale led 3-0 at the half, and tacked on four more goals after intermission.

Ada (0-3-1 NWC) hosts sixth-place Northwest Conference foe Delphos Jefferson (4-7-3, 1-3-1 NWC) Monday, October 11.

Visiting Ada lost a three-set match to Crestview in Northwest Conference volleyball action Tuesday night.

The Lady Bulldogs fell to 2-16 overall and 0-6 in the NWC with the 25-10, 25-9, 25-13 loss. 

The Lady Knights improved to 13-6 and 6-1 in NWC play with the sweep.

Sophomore setter Autumn Andreasen passed out seven assists, hit for one kill and came up with 11 digs. 

Junior Courtney Sumner hit one kill, served three aces and mustered six digs for Ada.

Bulldog sophomore Daicy Robinson and junior Emilee Huffer each knocked down a pair of kills.
