Ohio Northern sophomore Grace Honigford (West Chester/Lakota East) has been named the Ohio Athletic Conference Women's Golfer of the Week for the week of Oct. 19-25.

This is the third OAC Golfer of the Week accolade for Honigford this season and fifth such honor of her career.

On Monday, Honigford fired an 8-over-par 80 to stand tied for 24th of 97 golfers after the first round of the Berry (Ga.) Invitational at the Coosa Country Club.

She took a quadruple-bogey 9 on the second hole and responded by going 1-under par for her next five holes and shot 4-over par over the final 16 holes.

The Ohio Northern women's golf team moved up one spot to finish seventh out of 17 teams in the final round of the Berry (Ga.) Chik-fil-A Invitational on Tuesday at the Coosa Country Club.

The Polar Bears (52-11 overall) finished with a final round 324 after a solid first round of 332 to finish with a 656.

No. 4-ranked Methodist (N.C.) won the team title with a 293-287—580, No. 14 Berry (Ga.) was second with a 300-304—604, NCAA Division II Shorter (Ga.) was third with a 296-314—610, No. 21 Denison was fourth with a 309-315—624 and Division II Coker (Tenn.) was fifth with a 327-315—642.

Ada sophomore center-midfielder Ella Marshall was named first team All-Northwest Conference in voting conducted by the league coaches recently.

Lady Bulldog sophomore scoring leader Olivia Burkhart and senior Julia Kamatali were voted second team all-league.

Bulldog junior Ella Badertscher and senior Laura Mullins were named honorable mention all-conference.

Ada ended up 2-10-1 and 0-5-1 in NWC play. Lauryn Auchmuty of league champion Columbus Grove (6-0 NWC) was voted NWC Player of the Year. 

Columbus Grove mentor Chris Halker was named NWC Coach of the Year.

Ada High School seniors Isaac Williams and Tyler Jameson were named first team All-Northwest Conference in voting conducted recently (October 2021) by the league coaches.

Bulldog juniors Carter Conley and Brendan Jameson were voted second team all-league. Conley led the Bulldogs in goals scored.

Ada junior Ethan Murphy and freshman Logan Jolliff were named honorable mention All-NWC.

Ada finished its season 7-8-3 overall and 1-2-1 (fourth) in NWC action. 

Jude Spallinger of unbeaten league champion Bluffton (4-0) was voted NWC Player of the Year. 

Bluffton's Steve Smucker was named NWC Coach of the Year in voting by his peers.

Ada High School junior Courtney Sumner was voted honorable mention All-Northwest Conference in voting recently (October 2021) conducted by the league coaches.

The versatile Sumner was among the team leaders in kills, digs and aces. The Lady Bulldogs finished 2-19 overall and 0-7 in the NWC.

Lincolnview senior Kendall Bollenbacher was named NWC Player of the Year.

JaNahn Evans was named NWC Coach of the Year by her peers after leading the Lancers to a third straight conference crown.

Lincolnview, Crestview and Leipsic tied for the NWC title at 7-1.

The visiting Ada boys soccer team lost a rematch at local rival Cory-Rawson 3-1 Saturday afternoon, October 23,  in Div. III sectional second round play.

Sixth-seeded Ada ends its season 7-8-3 after the defeat that snapped a three-match win streak. 

Fifth-seeded Cory-Rawson improved to 8-6-3 with the victory.

The Bulldogs had defeated C-R 4-1 in Ada on September 22. 

Ada ended up 4-4-2 on the road this season.

The Hornets advanced to the district semifinals at Tiffin Columbian Wednesday, October 27 at 5 p.m., against Northwest Conference champion Bluffton (12-3-2).

Top-seeded Bluffton whipped 12th seed Old Fort 8-0 Saturday afternoon.
