ADA – The Ada High School wrestling team hosted its annual 17-team invitational meet on February 1. The Bulldogs finished a solid ninth with 100 points. Columbus Grove won the event with 167.5 points.
Ada senior Liam Vieira took second in the 144 lbs. weight division. Seeded third, he won three matches by pin to reach the title round.
In the championship bout, he lost by technical fall 17-1 to top-seeded Triad junior Garret Bollock.
Junior Silas Riblet finished second in the 120 lbs. bracket. Seeded second, he got a first round bye and then won two matches via pin to reach the finals.
In the championship bout, he lost a 13-3 decision to top seed senior Mason Snyder of Lake.
Ada sophomore Easton Lane finished second in the heavyweight class. The third seed, Lane captured three straight matches via pin to advance to the final round.
In the championship bout, Lane was pinned in 59 seconds by top-seeded Colton Oberhouse of Eastwood.
Senior Landon Simon captured third in the 214 lbs. division. Seeded second, he won his first match by pin in just 17 seconds. He then lost in the semifinals, but took the third-place match by pin in 2:03.
Ada sophomore Wyatt Fisher went 1-2 with a pin in the 138 lbs. bracket.
Freshman Elijah Craig was 1-2 at 150 lbs. with one pin.
Ada wrestles at local rival Bluffton February 5. They then compete in the Blanchard Valley Conference championship meet Saturday, February 15.
