Kiwanis Club minutes

Harold Friesner called the 33rd meeting (May 29) of the 2011–2012 Kiwanis Year to order at 12:02 p.m.

Jon Umphress offered the invocation.

A card of congratulations was sent to Scott and Jaime Wills on the birth of their son, McCormick Dean,

The birthday of Myrna McCurdy (May 28th ) was noted in song. The birthday of Scott Allison (May 29th) was also noted.

The membership Anniversary of Mike Hood, (June 1st 1981) was also noted.

The wedding anniversary of John and Joanne Berg (May 29th 1955) was acknowledged by the membership

Joe Ferguson reported that he has mulched the North and South Ada entrance signs.

In business:
-An updated financial report was heard from Bryan Marshall, Treasurer.
-Secretary Brian Myers noted Kiwanis International is proposing an increase in member dues.
-A Division 2 meeting is set for June 6th in Delphos. (Jeff Schulman, Jon Umphress, Brian Myers, Myrna and Bob McCurdy Harold Friesner, Sandy and Bruce Neely are planning to attend. 

-The allocations committee is going to review upcoming financial requests.
-Joe Ferguson will head up the memorial tree planting for the late Judge Claude W. Pettit on Tuesday July 10th.  A member of the Pettit College will be invited to attend.
- Joe Ferguson reported that the Junior Civic League has joined the village sign project group. They have identified some properties for the signs and are pursuing quotes and modifications. They are looking into adding a URL to the sign to allow visitors to gain easy access to all the clubs websites.
-The club will sponsor the June 5th Restore crock pot meal, which will include pancakes and sausage.
-The annual election of officers was held. Officers elected included: Myrna McCurdy, President; Heather Cox, President-Elect; Dustin Brooks Vice-President; Bryan Marshall, Treasurer; and Brian Myers, Secretary.
-Kiwanis Education Minute: K-Kids is a Kiwanis-sponsored service club for students in elementary schools. Each K-Kids club is a local project of its sponsoring Kiwanis club, and there is no district or International K-Kids structure.  The K-Kids program was officially adopted by Kiwanis International in 1998/
-Something to consider: A woman is always shy about her age….several years shy.

-06/12 Sandy Neely will host Fred Steiner from The Ada Icon

-07/10 We will hold our annual tree donation at the park.
President Harold Friesner adjourned the meeting at 12:55 p.m.
The Ada Kiwanis Club meets weekly at 12:00 noon at McIntosh Center (Activities Room #7), ONU.  Guests are always welcome.
