Lee Reese (formerly Emily Canterbury) died Oct. 7, 2013, at 2:04 AM at her residence. She was born in Cleveland, Ohio on June 21, 1946 to Kathryn Reese Canterbury and John S. Canterbury, who preceded her in death.
She grew up in Northfield, Michigan, and graduated from Northville High School. She attended Albion College, where she graduated in 1968. She also attended Ohio Northern University to obtain her teaching certification and taught for one year in Michigan.
Reese lived for a number of years in Florida where she worked for a Title Insurance company, and she owned a used book store. In 1996, Lee left Florida and moved to Longmont, Colo., where she lived until 2002, when she built a home on the Reese family farm just south of Ada.
For the past 12 years, she was involved with the family farm and has trained Shetland Sheepdogs (Shelties) in Canine Agility. She traveled around the country with Scampi, her Sheltie, in agility competitions. Scampi and Lee have been first place winners in numerous competitions both locally and at the national level.
Most recently Reese has worked as an office volunteer for the Ada First United Methodist Church. She is survived by a niece, Haley Canterbury, in Alabama and numerous cousins.
She was preceded in death by a brother, John S. Canterbury.
A service celebrating her life will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 26, 2013, at the English Chapel on the campus of Ohio Northern University. Rather than flowers, she requested that memorials be given to the Ada First United Methodist Church's building fund.
