The mayor, all councilors, fiscal officer, police chief and legal advisor were all present for the April 1 regular meeting of the Village of Ada Council, which was dispatched in under an hour. (Agenda)
Three names were listed under the Open Floor segment on the agenda with the expectation that they would comment on a proposed ordinance regarding vendors including food trucks. Discussion indicated that two had spoken to the mayor and councilor Bob Simmons prior to the meeting.
There were no resolutions or ordinances on the agenda.
SAFETY SERVICES
A motion by committee chair Jeff Oestriech was approved that gave the Mayor authority to sign a Memorandum of Understanding with Liberty Township to install a tornado siren on the north side of town.
STREETS
Committee Chair Linda Mason and Village Administrator Jamie Hall explained that repairs are needed on the north side of W. North St. The Village is talking with ODOT to determine the cause of damage.
FISCAL OFFICER
Patty Navin reported that Income Tax payments through March was a 7% increase over last year for the same period.
POLICE
Police Chief Alec Cooper reported that since the last council meeting the department had responded to 102 calls for service, made 8 incident reports and assisted at 3 vehicle incidents. He noted two arrests: a male was arrested for fleeing and eluding, and a male was arrested for felony domestic violence.
VILLAGE ADMINISTRATION
Jamie Hall reported on current and upcoming projects. Bid openings for sidewalks, street and alley paving are scheduled. A pre-construction meeting has been scheduled for converting a portion of Buckeye Ave to one-way traffic. Hall noted that temperatures in the 70s are needed for striping. Water meter installation is expected to be completed by the end of April.
PERSONNEL
The public portion of the meeting concluded when council entered executive session to discuss employment with no action to be taken.
