The Ada boys soccer team played to a 1-1 tie with visiting Riverdale in the North Central Ohio Soccer Association opener Thursday night under the lights at War Memorial Stadium.
Ada ran its record to 2-2-2 overall and 0-0-1 in NCOSA action with the draw.
Winless Riverdale improved to 0-6-1 overall and 0-0-1 in NCOSA play after the tie.
The Falcons scored first to lead 1-0. But junior Logan Jolliff tied it on a goal via a Gabe Blankenship assist with 19:45 left in the first half.
With 2:45 remaining in the opening half, the Falcons unleashed a long shot that went just over the crossbar and into the top netting.
Jolliff put together a good left side run and fed a nice ball crossfield to junior Andrew Allen, who tried a bicycle kick shot. But the acrobatic try missed wide 45 seconds before intermission.
Neither team could dent the net in the second half in the nightcap of a girls/boys varsity doubleheader vs. the Falcons.
Freshman Jacob Rush made three saves in goal for Ada.
Ada plays at Ft. Jennings (1-3-2) Monday, September 11.
