Chamber provides information on new ONU student exploration and service in Ada

The July 19 meeting of the Ada Area Chamber of Commerce, held at 8:00 a.m. at the Ada Public Library, reminded members that there are several opportunities to engage with the community in coming weeks.

Ohio Northern University will be providing new students with an Ada Adventure on Friday, August 18 fro 9:30-11:00 a.m. and 1:30-3:00 p.m. Businesses are encouraged to register with the QR code on the attached flyer and to showcase their business by providing information or offering a raffle, sample or giveaway. Email [email protected] if you have questions. The University will also be hosting a welcome fest on campus.

On August 19, first-year ONU students will be engaging with the community and contributing to village beautification.  Students will take part in one-hour shifts (9:30-10:30 a.m) or two-hour shifts (9:30-11:30 a.m.). The university is currently registering organizations, businesses and residents with projects. Registration forms will be accepted through Monday, August 1. Ada’s Martha Nau, the new director of the Hardin County United Way, made a presentation on the nonprofit organization including ways individuals and businesses can support its mission to provide county residents with education, financial stability, and health resources. All are invited to:

  • Annual Campaign Kick-off - 7:30-9:00 a.m., August 4 at Mid-Ohio Energy Building, 1210 Lima St., Kenton.
  • Days of Caring volunteer activities- August 4. To volunteer, email [email protected]
  • Summer Social - 5:00 p.m., August 11 at the Inn at ONU, 401 W. College Ave., Ada
  • Bourbon Ball - October 28 at The Varsity Venue, 214 W. Franklin St., Kenton
