Kenton/Hardin County Soroptimist International president Karen Kier opened the club's April meeting and welcomed guests Pat Smith and Maria Santo to the event and a meal prepared by the Elks staff.
The president's report included an update on District Science Fair and a very poor turnout of students. To promote women in STEM, the club judges female-led projects and provides an award. The winning project was “Biological and Chemical Assessment on the Mad River Over Five Years” by Benjamin Logan School student Winnie Bodin. She was presented with a certificate and a $25 Amazon gift card on behalf of the club.
Kier shared her experience attending the SIA International Women’s Day Tea Party; the focus was on education and Dream Big projects. A recap of the Celebration of Women was shared.

Maylene Deckling gave an update on Dream it Be it program. It is a virtual event for girls age 14-18 that will be held on May 6,from 2:00-4:00 p.m. All participants will receive a gift and one lucky girl will win a Chromebook. Girls can register at [email protected].
Under new business it was reported that ONU Panhellenic will stuff Dignity bags April 13, at 8pm in Pharmacy room 122. Brenda Holder advised her husband Brian has toured the rose garden and will take on the care. Annetta Holmes reminded members of the Project Care and Comfort quilt day was rescheduled for April 29th at 9am at the Kier barn. Missie Austin gave a short report on the recent LunaFest; full report will be made when all the numbers are turned in.
Vice President Jessica Hinson led a group activity centered on leadership skills.
The next Soroptomist meeting will be May 4, 2023.
