Norman Dean Fleming, age 74, of Ada, passed away on Saturday, December 3, 2022, at Mercy Health-St. Rita’s Medical Center, Lima.
He was born in Bluffton, Ohio on January 3, 1948, to the late Ralph Samuel and Edna Marie (Welty) Fleming. On November 4, 1978, Norman married Deryl D. (VanAtta) Everhart, and she survives in Ada.
Also surviving are three daughters: Patti (John) Cupp of Knoxville, TN, Amy (Mike) Lump of Russells Point, and Kim (Jim) Cooper of Huntsville; two sons: Kent (Dee) Everhart, and Keith (Kim Reisinger) Everhart both of Ada; eight grandchildren: Brianna Lump, Brennon Lump, Quinn Cupp, Layne Cupp, Becca (Ryan) Jacobs, Austin Everhart, Aaron Everhart, and Cort Everhart; and a great grandson, Jett Jacobs.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Wayne Fleming, and sister, Esther Woodworth.
Norman retired from Home Savings & Loan, Kenton in 2009, where he served as the President and CEO. He served as a director for the bank until September 20, 2012. He was a Director Emeritus of the Home Savings and Loan, Kenton, and the Hardin County Community Foundation. He attended the Huntsville United Methodist Church and was a member of the Sugar Grove United Methodist Church of Ada. Norman served in the US Army National Guard from 1967 to 1973 as a Staff Sargent. Norman was a member of the Ada and Kenton Kiwanis Club, the Ada Red Cross, the Ada and Hardin County Chamber of Commerce, the Kenton CIC. He served as a Liberty Township Trustee for ten years, and on the Ada-Liberty Ambulance Board. He was a charter and life member of the AmVets Post #1994. A member of the American Legion Post #185, the Kenton Elks, and the Kenton Moose. He was a director and one of the founding parties of the Hardin County Community Foundation. A past precinct committeeman and past member of the Central Committee of the Hardin County Republican Party.
Funeral services will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, December 9, 2022, at Hanson-Neely-Allison Funeral & Cremation Services, Ada with Pastor Bryan Meadows officiating.
Visitation will be held from 1:00-3:00 p.m. and 5:00-7:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 8, 2022, and one hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Friday.
