William Douglas Burris worked for Rockwell International

William Douglas Burris, age 83, of Harrod, passed away on Tuesday, April 29, 2025 at his home, surrounded by his beloved family and friends. 

Doug was born on July 7, 1941 to Charles and Cleah Burris. He was the oldest of nine children.  He is survived by his brother, Rick Burris and sister, Terri Bridenstein. He was preceded in death by his siblings: Patty, Karen, Lois, Marsha, Bucky and Bonnie; and a grandson, Mason Heffner.

In 1963, he married Dorothy Rowe and to them were born a son and two daughters: Randy (Cathy) Burris, Marlo (Brad) Heffner and Nikki (Aerick Jago) Parker. Married to Sharon Mosley in 1996, he also gained another son, Jonathan (Athena) Mosley. Doug was blessed to have eight grandchildren: Brittany, Ashley, Kayla, Tyler, Cameron, Collin, Logan and Austin; and thirteen great grandchildren with two more on the way; several nieces and nephews.  His nephew Justin (Part Timer) has been his go to help.  

Retired from Rockwell International after working for thirty years, he has pursued many other activities such as traveling in all 50 states, and loved auctions where he added to his huge record collection and sports memorabilia. Spring baseball training was a yearly event he enjoyed with his friend of over seventy years Truman Fry. He also attended the State Basketball Tournament with his son Randy. Having coached baseball and softball for thirty-six years, he especially enjoyed seeing his grandchildren’s events.  Family was very important to him. 

Doug attended the McGuffey Church of Christ. Doug and family were very appreciative of all the prayers form the church and the counsel of David Holbrook.   

Funeral services will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, May 5, 2025 at the McGuffey Church of Christ, 203 Columbus Street, McGuffey, Ohio 45859 with David Holbrook officiating.  Burial will be in Preston Cemetery, Alger.           

Visitation will be held on Sunday, May 4, 2025 from 2:00-6:00 p.m. at the McGuffey Church of Christ, 203 Columbus Street, McGuffey, Ohio 45859 and one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday from 10:00-11:00 a.m..
