Del and Karol Wells celebrate 50th wedding anniversary

Mr. & Mrs. Delmar Wells will celebrate 50 years of marriage on Nov. 7, 2021. A luncheon will be held from 1-3 p.m. that day at the LaFayette Congregational Christian Church, 205 W Main St., to celebrate what Karol calls "50 years of fun!"

Del and the former Karol Lynne Contris were married Nov. 7, 1971, at Liberty Chapel Church near LaFayette by the Rev. Marvin Paxton. They built a home on property nearby and raised 4 children, dozens of foster children, and countless international exchange students.

Del retired from BP Chemicals (formerly Sohio and Vistron) and volunteered as a Little League coach and with the Hog Creek Game Club. Karol managed their household and volunteered with the children's schools, serving as a room mother and field trip advisor.

Both are longtime volunteers with Lima Memorial Health System. They are also members of the LaFayette-Jackson Historical Society, LaFayette Congregational Christian Church and Good Sam camping club.

They are the parents of Mindi Wells of Columbus, Wendy Wells of Lakeview, Lyndee (Spencer) Noel of Belle Center, and Drew Wells of LaFayette and the grandparents of Taylor (Tyler) Sams of Kissimmee, Florida, Coleton Shilling of LaFayette, Lane Tucci of Lakeview, and Lincoln Nolan of Belle Center. They have one great-granddaughter, Ella Shilling of LaFayette.
