7th annual “Buggy Ride” bike tour on May 18

Hardin Leadership II is offering different routes this year for their 7th annual Buggy Ride — a bicycle tour in the Amish countryside of Hardin County.

The routes begin and end at McCullough Industries on County Road 175 in Kenton.  They are designed to provide families and individuals with a low traffic ride in the country. Bike routes begin at 8 a.m. on Saturday, May 18, for the distance riders —those traveling 60 miles throughout the Hardin County.

Those planning to travel 30 miles, 15 miles or the 6-mile family ride will begin at 8:30 a.m. Registration continues until 8:30 a.m. on Saturday.

The cost is $20 for an adult. Children ages 12 and under are free when riding along with an adult. For this year’s ride, if you have or can “borrow” a preschool child, adults can ride with the child for “free” thanks to the Healthy Lifestyles Coalition. $5.00 off registration for GOBA riders -- just provide your registration or rider number for GOBA.

All cyclists are required to wear helmets. There will be emergency services available and a SAG truck to pick up stranded cyclists. All participants under age 18 must have a parent or guardian signature to ride.

All riders will be provided with snack stops, a route map, safety coverage, and information on local attractions.  A lunch of chicken noodles and homemade cookies will be available for riders at the end of the routes.

Anyone with questions can contact Laura Wingfield at 419-674-1680. Pre-registration information is available on-line at http://hardin.osu.edu/announcements/

You may also register the day of the ride.
