Sizemore, Morgan earn All-NWC golf honors

At NWC meet Sizemore led Ada with a 47-48=95 day

BLUFFTON - The Ada golf team finished  seventh in the eight-team Northwest Conference championship meet Thursday at the Bluffton Golf Course.

Bluffton, which went 14-0 in regular season league play, took first with an 18-hole team total of 340 strokes. The first-place tournament finish also clinched the overall 2019 conference golf championship for the Pirates.

Delphos Jefferson (358) finished second in the tournament with Allen East (366) finishing third. Paulding finished fourth (372), Columbus Grove fifth (374), Lincolnview sixth (395), Ada seventh (404) and Crestview last (414).

Bluffton senior Drew Wilson was the tournament medalist with a score of 81. Runner-up medalist was Owen Macke of Columbus Grove at 82. Kenny Lovett of Bluffton and Logan Gallmeier tied for third-place medalist, with each carding scores of 84.

Bulldog junior Brevin Sizemore led Ada with a 47-48=95 day. Ada senior southpaw Alex Morgan shot a 50-48=98.

Senior Ethan Hull carded a 51-53=104 total. Junior Jacob Morgan registered a 53-54=107 score to finish tied in fourth for Ada with sophomore Kamron Wilkerson (54-53=107).

Sophomore lefty Dexter Woods was the sixth Bulldog finisher at 58-59=117.

Following tournament play, the tourney finish for each school was combined with their regular season finish to determine the final NWC golf standings for 2019.   

Bluffton won both the conference regular season and tournament, and took first place with a perfect 16 points. Allen East finished second with a total of 13 points. Paulding and Delphos Jefferson tied for third with totals of 11 points each.  

The following overall order of conference finish was Lincolnview (8), Columbus Grove (7), Ada (4) Crestview (2).

Following todayís action, the league coaches voted Mason Roth of Bluffton NWC Coach of the Year. Senior Wilson of Bluffton earned NWC Golfer of the Year honors by virtue of points earned during each regular season match, and the season-ending tournament.  

Wilson was joined on the NWC first team by Carter Frey (AE), Kolson Egnor (Paulding), Logan Gallmeier (DJ), Zach Miller (AE), Kenny Lovett (Bluffton) and Braxton Scalf (DJ).

All-NWC second team: Micah Minnig (Bluffton), Brevin Sizemore (Ada), Owen Macke (CG), Landon Price (Lincolnview), Evan Miller (Lview), Dillon Underwood (Crestview).

NWC Honorable Mention: Jared Piercefield (Bluffton), Alex Morgan (Ada), Noah Macke (CG), Grant Glossett (Lview), Cameron Hedrick (AE), Kyle Dominique (Paulding), Austin Macke (CG), Josh Carper (Paulding), Noah Brown (AE), Brady Johnston (DJ), Dane Ebel (Lview), Noah Pessefalle (Paulding).

Ada will play in the 13-team Div. III sectionals at Arlington's Sycamore Springs Golf Course Thursday, September 26.
