ONU women’s and men’s track and field teams continue their national rankings this week. Here’s an update on both teams.
Women’s team
The Ohio Northern women's track and field program moved up 31 spots this week to No. 25 on the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association indoor national power rankings, the national office announced Tuesday afternoon.
In the fourth weekly power rankings, the Polar Bears earned 31.67 team points.
Washington (Mo.) resides atop the power rankings list with 164.43 points. Meanwhile, Williams (Mass.) and Loras (Iowa) sit second and third with 124.42 and 103.07 points, respectively.
Additionally, Northern ranks sixth on the Great Lakes Region power rankings list. Five of the top-six teams in the region are Ohio Athletic Conference members, including Otterbein, Mount Union, John Carroll, Baldwin Wallace, and Ohio Northern.
The Polar Bears are scheduled to compete in the Flag City Open at Findlay this Saturday, February 16 to conclude their pre-OAC Championship slate.
Men’s team
The Ohio Northern men's track and field program has been ranked 34th in the fourth weekly United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association indoor power rankings, the national office announced Tuesday afternoon.
The Polar Bears received 27.97 points and jumped 15 spots from last week's power ranking list, breaking into the top-40 for the first time this season.
North Central (Ill.) currently tops the list with 205.71 points. UW-Oshkosh and UW-LaCrosse round out the top-three programs with 171.41 and 135.09 points, respectively.
ONU also ranks fifth in the Great Lakes Region power rankings list with 139.63 points, trailing just Otterbein, Mount Union, John Carroll, and Adrian (Mich.) for the top spot.
Ohio Northern will continue the 2019 indoor track and field season this Saturday with a trip to the Flag City Open, hosted by Findlay.
