Paul David Patton was a Special Olympics competitor

Paul David Patton, age 57, of Kenton, was born on October 26, 1967, Paul R. and Judith Patton.  He passed away on November 26, 2024 at Lost Creek Care Center, Lima.

David is survived by his two siblings: Lisa (Alan) Long of Kenton, and Gregory Patton of Elida. He is the beloved uncle to Kyle, Ashley, Emily and Shane. He is preceded in death by his father and his long-term girlfriend, Phoebe Holloway. David was a great son, brother, and friend to all who knew him. He was an innocent, gentle soul who faced all adversity with a grace that most men cannot aspire. David never knew a stranger and he could start a conversation with a, “Hey, can I ask you a question?”.

David achieved many things considering his challenges. He was a Special Olympics competitor in his youth, he earned a high school diploma from Upper Scioto Valley/Simon Kenton School in 1990.  He worked for 30 years at HARCO in the sheltered workshop. He lived with his parents, transitioned to a group home and then the nursing home. The nursing home staff and residents at Hardin Hills Health Center became family to David as he resided there for 20 years until late June of this year. Transfer trauma is real. He lived in his new home for six days before becoming ill.

Private family burial will be held in Preston Cemetery, Alger. A public celebration of life dinner will be held at a later date.

Memorial contributions may be made to Allen Co. Teddy Bear Fund, 144 S. Main Street, Lima, Ohio 45801 or to St. John Lutheran Church, 5015 County Road 115, Dola, Ohio 45801.
