The annual Cambodian art auction will begin Monday at the law school.. The paintings were created by students at Phare Ponleu Selpak, a performing arts school in Battambang, and proceeds will benefit elementary students at the Cambodian school started by the People Improvement Organization.
The school provides education, books, uniforms and food to children who lived in the Phnom Penh city dump and surrounding slums.
Madeleine Burnette, a second year law student, recently traveled to Cambodia as part of the “Law & Culture in Southeast Asia” course and said, "It was truly the best experience. The children of the PIO school offer a unique perspective. These children, who live in extreme poverty, are still so enthusiastic about their education and are grateful to have our support."
