For 27 years, the Harvest and Herb Festival has brought people from all over Ohio and even outside of the state to pack Main Street in Ada. With over 130 booths lining the street, a parade, and plenty of entertainment this year, there is something for everyone at this year's festival, which is Saturday, Sept. 15.
The festival is put on by the Ada Area Chamber of Commerce and headed by Jeff and Deb Oestreich, Anna Poling, Scott and Arlene Allison, and JoNell Hanratty.
The booths are bought by service groups, churches, businesses, individuals, and other groups, who sell items, such as, food, homemade baked goods, crafts of all sorts, raffles, games, flowers, antiques, and give out information on their business or group.
Booths are open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Main Street will be closed off from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m. on the 15th.
Other than the booths themselves the festival offers great entertainment including local people and musicians, Miss Ohio, who attends Ohio Northern, and a parade, which starts at 10 a.m. that goes through Main Street.
Also, the crowning of the Harvest and Herb Festival Queen is at noon. The queen is chosen by an essay and an interview. In addition to the Harvest and Herb Festival there are other outside events such as the punkin’ chunkin’ contest at 5:30 p.m.
