Gene Crouse was past commander of Ada American Legion Post

Raymond Eugene Crouse,  93, died on Friday, June 5, 2015 at 12:45 p.m. at his residence in Ada.

He was born on December 6, 1921 in Ada, to Joseph and Verna (Augsburger) Crouse who preceded him in death. On May 30, 1942 he married Betty Klingler and she survives in Ada.

Gene retired from Ford Motor Company of Lima after working 25 years as a millwright. He formerly worked as an aircraft assembler at Douglas Aircraft in Santa Monica, Calif., and Curtis-Wright Aircraft in Columbus.

He was a co-owner of Crouse Implement in Ada. He was a member of St. Paul United Church of Christ, Ada. He was a 1940 graduate of Ada High School. Gene was a U. S. Army Veteran who served during WWII from Feb. 22, 1943 to Feb. 12, 1946. He was a member and past commander of the American Legion Post #185 of Ada. He was a member of the former F&AM Lodge #344 of Ada. He was a member of the UAW Post #1219 of Lima. 

Also surviving are his two children: Craig (Theresa) Crouse of Ada and Vicki (David) Nichols of Lima; six grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren.

Funeral services will begin at 10 a.m. on Monday, June 8, at Hanson-Neely Funeral Home, Ada with Pastor Thomas Dearth officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Ada with graveside military rites being conducted by the Ada VFW Post #9381 Honor Guard.
