Stomback notches 100th career win as Women's Tennis goes 3-0 at 2nd Annual OAC Tennis Fest

Junior Taryn Stromback joined the 100 win club as the Ohio Northern women's tennis team swept three matches at the 2nd Annual OAC Tennis Fest at Lindner Family Tennis Center in Mason, Ohio.

Ohio Northern improves to 15-3 on the season and 6-0 in Ohio Athletic Conference play.

In her career Stromback is 43-22 at singles, 58-14 in doubles play and 101-36 overall. She is the 11th member to notch 100 wins for Ohio Northern.

The Polar Bears were led in the first match by senior Michelle Tuma who posted a 6-1, 6-1 victory at No. 1 singles and teamed up with junior Meghan Letizia to win No. 2 doubles 8-0.

ONU opened the match sweeping doubles as junior Christina Corbean and sophomore Brittany Toney won No. 1 doubles 8-3, Tuma and Letizia won No. 2 doubles 8-0, and Stromback and freshman Lynn Kelly won No. 3 doubles 8-0.

The Polar Bears also swept singles play, as Tuma claimed a 6-1, 6-1 victory at No. 1 singles, Corbean claimed a 6-2, 6-0 victory at No. 2 singles, Kelly won No. 3 singles 6-0, 6-2, Letizia won No. 4 singles 6-1, 6-0, Stromback won No. 5 singles 6-0, 6-0, and Toney won No. 6 singles 6-1, 6-3.

In ONU's second match of the day, the women swept Marietta 9-0.

The team of Stromback and Kelly and the team of freshman Morgan McGlothlin and freshman Morgan Schaeffer won 8-2 at No. 1 doubles and No. 3 singles, respectively.

Tuma and Letizia were victorious at No. 2 doubles, as they won 8-0.

Kelly, Corbean and Letizia won 6-1, 6-0 at No. 1, No. 2 and No. 3 singles, respectively.

At No. 4 singles, Toney was victorious by a score of 6-2, 6-0.

Schaeffer was also victorious, as she posted a 4-6, 6-2, 10-4 victory at No. 5 singles.

McGlothlin finished the sweep for the Polar Bears as she posted a 6-3, 6-1 victory at No. 6 singles.

In the third match of the afternoon, Northern would go on to win 7-0 against Muskingum.

Northern started the match by sweeping doubles play as Corbean and Toney won 8-1 at No. 1 singles and Schaeffer and McGlothlin won 8-2 at No. 2 doubles. Stromback and Kelly won at No. 3 doubles by forfeit.

Northern also swept singles play as Kelly won 8-0 at No. 1 singles, Letizia won 8-0 at No. 2 singles, Schaeffer won 8-0 at No. 3 singles and McGlothlin won 8-2 at No. 4 singles.

The Polar Bears will return to action on Friday, as they celebrate Senior Day in a home contest against John Carroll at 3 pm.
