ONU women tabbed to finish second in OAC preseason poll

The Ohio Northern women's basketball team was chosen to finish second out of 10 teams in the OAC Women's Basketball Preseason poll in voting done by the league's 10 head coaches.

No. 6 and defending OAC champion Mount Union was tabbed to finish first with 79 points and seven first place votes.

ONU was picked to finish second with 73 points and two first place votes, followed by Baldwin Wallace who received 62 points and one first place vote.

Northern finish the 2011-12 campaign with a 21-6 record and 14-4 mark in the OAC.

The Polar Bears also made their first apperance in the OAC Tournament Championship game since 1989.

Men's Basketball picked to finish seventh in OAC Preseason Poll

-The Ohio Northern men's basketball team was chosen to finish seventh out of 10 teams in the OAC Preseason Men's Basketball Poll in voting conducted by the league's 10 head coaches.

Capital was tabbed to finish first with 74 points, bringing in six first place votes.

Baldwin Wallace and Marietta each received 67 points, but the Yellow Jackets received three first place votes compared to one for the Pioneers.

The Polar Bears received 35 votes.

ONU welcomes in new head coach Kevin Byrne, who will begin his first season at the helm.

Northern went 14-14 last season and had a 8-10 mark in OAC play.

Global Entrepreneurship Week features competition, champion ballroom dancing duo

The Ohio Northern University James F. Dicke College of Business Administration Entrepreneur Center is holding a Global Entrepreneurship Week from Nov. 13-16. The week will include pitch competitions for high school and ONU students and a four-day visit from the champion ballroom dancing duo of Tim and Barbara Haller. 

First 2013 Bulldog card sold - get your's today

Ada Elementary student, Samantha Crawford, recently sold the first 2013 Bulldog card to Dr. Suzanne Darmer, Superintendent of Ada Exempted Village Schools.

Samantha is a member of the 5th grade band and is learning to play the trumpet under the direction of Lori Wilson. The Bulldog card is a popular local discount program, which offers discounts to numerous area restaurants and merchants.

It is a fund-raising effort of the Ada Music Boosters with proceeds used to support excellence in music education for all students of Ada Schools. Cards are being sold by all band and choir students in grades 5-12 or from any member of the Boosters.

Two longtime Ada community leaders were honored at the Nov. 5 Town and Gown Banquet. The 47th annual event, held in an overflowing crowd at the McIntosh Center Ballroom, recognized Jim Turner as Distinguished Citizen of the Year for 2012 and Fred Evans with the Ada Spirit Award. In addition, many persons new to the community were introduced.
