Rushton leads Polar Bears to 84-68 victory over Finlandia (Mich.) at Alma Thanksgiving Classic

Junior Branden Rushton scored 24 points for the second consecutive game, leading the Ohio Northern men's basketball team to an 84-68 victory over Finlandia (Mich.) Sunday afternoon on the second day of the Alma Thanksgiving Classic.

The Polar Bears improve to 4-1 on the season and went 2-0 in the tournament, while the Lions fall to 0-6.

Rushton was 9 of 13 from the floor and dished out four assists to go with his 24 points.
Rushton and sophomore Isaiah Roux were named to the All-Tournament Team.
Junior Jared Horstman had a double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds and sophomore Jordan Martin added 13 points for ONU.

Five score in double figures as men's basketball tops Alma (Mich.), 99-71

Junior Branden Rushton scored a game high 24 points, as the Ohio Nothern men's basketball team had five players score in double figures in a 99-71 victory over Alma (Mich.) Saturday evening at the Alma Thanksgiving Classic.

The Polar Bears improve to 3-1 on the season with the win, while the Scots fall to 0-3.
Sophomores Lucas Pennington and Isaiah Roux each scored 17 points for ONU.

Junior Jared Horstman had 12 points and senior Taylor Kuhlman finished with 11 points.

Northern shot a solid 15-of-24 (62.5 percent) in three pointers on the evening.

Snyder, Yoder lead women's basketball to 78-54 win over Albion (Mich.)

Senior Joanna Snyder scored 16 points and junior Cenzie Yoder added 13, as the Ohio Northern women's basketball team topped Albion (Mich.) by a 78-54 score Saturday evening at the St. Mary's (Ind.) Thanksgiving Classic.

With the win, the Polar Bears improve to 3-1 on the season, while the Britons fall to 1-3.

Snyder shot 8-of-12 from the field and also grabbed nine rebounds. Yoder was 6-of-10 shooting the ball and pulled down seven boards. Senior Katie Mengos also reached double digit scoring with 10 points.

Taylor Nugent led Albion with 16 points.

Northern got off to a quick start, building a 10-2 lead, capped off by a jumper from Snyder.

Opal Armentrout 1922-2012

Opal Armentrout, age 90, died Saturday, Nov. 17, 2012 at 2:45 PM at Kenton Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Kenton.

She was born on July 9, 1922, in McGuffey, Ohio to Frank and Cynthia (Rowe) Shepherd and they preceded her in death.

On July 30, 1941, she married Zenith "Wayne"Armentrout and he preceded her in death on June 18, 2008.

Opal had worked at North Electric in Kenton. She was a lifelong member of the McGuffey Church of Christ, where she had been a secretary, taught Bible School, and was a member of the ladies group. She loved to sew and crochet. She enjoyed woodworking with Wayne.
